Someone posted this on Mastadon today and I love it! Reminds me of the desire cycle of Magic cards.

I spend a lot of my free time watching gaming videos on youtube. Most of these would fall into the 'essay' style. Who are your favourite videogame subs on youtube?

Game Makers Toolkit - Game development and how and why games do the things they do

Girlfriend Reviews - Comedy, reviews etc etc

VaatiVidya - Fromsoft stuff; Lore, mechanics etc etc

New Frame Plus - The art, animation and style of games

People Make Games - Video Game documentaries

What about you?

Spent the first hour installing it to the console, now I've got another 90 minute download to perform.

I recently beat the Legend of Tianding and I really enjoyed the way it used comics in place of the standard cutscenes.

It's a nice reward for all the punching people you've been doing and gives the game a cool cinematic feel.

Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer also includes in game comics portraying the events of the story

These are not used in place of cutscenes and are actually from their other game Hypnospace: Outlaws but it is fun to have them here.

Max Payne did this as well but I honestly wasn't a big fan of them

And of course you have the classic Comix Zone but that's not quite the same as there is no non-comic gameplay to cut away from.

Are you a fan of this style? Any favorite games that use this? I'm surprised its not more common but I could see it losing its charm if it was done all the time.

Maybe it's a boss fight, or the conclusion of an amazing cutscene. Maybe it's the moment a game 'clicked' with you, or the moment you and the game combined for a moment you'll never forget.

Maybe you've heard this one before, but somehow I'm learning about this for the first time today and I think the story is pretty dang charming. What starts as a journalist interviewing a Twin Galaxies ref for a story results in his wife breaking the world record for Tetris DX.

Okay so I'll be honest, I'm mainly posting this because I want to talk about the somewhat surprising inclusion of Sekiro footage in this trailer.

The game was published by Activision internationally..

Maybe it's nothing, maybe it's something?

A lot of my retro collection has been neglected but a friend gave me a CRT and its inspired me to get everything setup and displayed again. Everything except project plus was easy but last night I finally had everything configured.

A Cohost post from user PhormTheGenie. I haven't played Rescue on Fractalus myself, but I've definitely heard people talk about the big twist.

Found on Mastadon, this is back before the game was as big as it is now

The game itself isn't very fun or interesting at all imo, but I do love this artwork. It's a simple puzzle game where you draw a path from your character to the girl, while avoiding letting the bully reach her. The title translates to something like "Love is a Strategy Game"

Sixteen years old, and still my favorite Let's Play of all time. Heck, I consider it more akin to a walking tour than a Let's Play.

Skyrim is my favorite game of all time. I've played through it many times on many different characters. Sometimes I speedrun, sometimes I do all factions, sometimes I get lost roleplaying and I never beat it.

Spoilers kind of, but when you beat the game you get some cool rewards. New spells, new shouts, new summons. And a new song plays in taverns and the people of the world react with new dialogue. You also get new quests. But I've only experienced these things for short periods. Because as soon as I beat the game I lose all drive to play it.

In the back of my mind, as I'm doing those side quests and factions, and decorating my house, and goofing off underneath Riften, its all building up to the finale. Even if I never reach that end point something inside me needs it to be there for me to keep playing. I've had playthroughs where I try to save everything fun until after the main quest and I still can't get myself to do it. I just stop playing.

I wish there was new game plus where I could keep those end game spells and summons, but still have the main quest to do over. I've looked into mods and what I want doesnt fully exist but this mod at least saves your skills and gold.

I've talked to a lot of people about Skyrim and similar games and no one has ever felt the same way so maybe I'm just odd. I'd be curious to hear if anyone else goes through this.

I stumbled across this game and its art while watching a gamesack vid about pcengine-CD games. I love how many potraits they made and how expressive they are. And honestly I've just discovered I really love 16bit character art.

I've spent a lot of time with the game since it launched on Gamepass earlier on in the week and I'm absolutely enamored with it.

Lots of half rendered people and missing floors. Excited for the xbox version but part of me will miss scenes like this

Game Club is a community where anyone can post without feeling like they have to meet an importance threshold. There are many fantastic gaming communities on Lemmy, but the general ones seems to be focused on game release news and not so much generic gamer posts. I want this to be place for people to share anything gaming related they would like, without feeling like they might get removed.

So please submit your favorite youtube videos, your rankings of your favorite franchise, an article from 7 years ago, the map from a game you love, a goofy screenshot or clip, a story about someone you used to game with, your idea for the next big game, a doodle of Master Chief, tips for Ryu, it is all welcome here!
