Robert Blake - A Culture of Resistance (robertsarazinblake.bandcamp.com)

Lyrics

We’re building a culture of resistance against capitalist economic institutions, Against a system which perpetrates greed and complement economics which is the seed. Of fair trade and not free trade we are insistent. We’re building a culture of resistance.

We’re building our own institutions, newspapers, T.V., and radio stations, We shop at cooperative stores, we buy organic cotton drawers, We’re full of hope that was once disillusion. We’re building our own institutions.

We’re building, not waiting for heaven, where there’s organic food stores not 7-11’s. We work 20 hours a week, there’s bikes not cars on the street, everyone has enough to eat, that’s a given. We’re building not waiting for heaven.

We’re building a culture of protest, organized actions of civil unrest. We’re locking down the doors we’re flying banners from your stores, we are willing to risk arrest. We’re building a culture of protest.

We’re building a culture of celebration, for we’re alive with imagination. When a brother’s business is sinking we find our own stories more interesting. Hollywood movies is cultural degradation. We’re building a culture of celebration.

We’re building a culture of consciousness. From drinking coffee to Friday night beer boss. We’d rather not have any than to drink from a paper cup, you say it can be recycled we say that’s not good enough. Please excuse any perceived self righteousness, we’re simply trying to build a culture of consciousness.

And we’re building a culture of resistance of gas masks and ski masks to save the earth buttons. From Earth first in California doin’ the tree sits. The places I’ll never go and the people I’ll never visit. From Philadelphia to Bellingham, Washington. We’re building a culture of resistance

Hello Everyone! I make chiptunes on trackers which are quite famous for "keygen music" associated with software piracy. My philosophy with the music I make is that all my tracks can be downloaded for free, are copyright free, and most importantly: its source files can be accessed.

The last bit is something I dont see too much of in the music communities (correct me if I am wrong). I would definitely like to see this more popularised perhaps making something akin to "FOSS Music". Under all of my tracks I put a mediafire link to .xm file. I think this would be incredibly useful to creators as there many times where I hear a song and just love a specific instrument or sample they used and would like to use it in my own music.

Thoughts?

In the 24th century
Everything is peachy keen
Everybody has enough
The replicators replicate all kinds of cool stuff
You can wander all across the universe
No quadrant is too far off to traverse
Exploration is humanity’s highest goal
They’ve discovered all kinds of planets, they’re really on a roll
How can we get there from here?
We’ve lost our way, I fear
Oh captain, won’t you show us where to go?
Make it so, make it so, oh, make it so

In the 24th century
Men and women live in harmony
There’s peace and justice within the human race
All shapes and colors floating happily through space
People run around in trios and in pairs
Occupy their time with wild love affairs
Ancient history recalls the world wars
When the rich were rich and the poor were poor
Gotta sprout wings over this brink
Will we rise or will we sink?
Captain, won’t you show us where to go?
Make it so, make it so, oh, make it so

In the 24th century
Even the air is clean
On the earth sparklin’ waters run
All the little kids are having lots of fun
Petrochemicals are a relic of the past
All the little hovercrafts are built to last
There’s not a smokestack in the sky
Just little birdies flyin’ happy and high
I’m trying to predict through the haze
Yeah I’m waitin’ for those good old days
Captain, won’t you tell us where to go?
Make it so, make it so, oh, make it so

I once knew a guy, obsessed with the afterlife
Oh what a terrible day that was, he realized he'd wasted all his time
Time was ticking by, and he'd been left behind
And as the clock tick-tocked his heart did stop and everything he had was fucked

And we know not what we do (Can you hear them call?)
Will we ever make it through?
As they watch us fall from the sky to the ground to the sea. Woe is me, woe is me, no one will save you now
We can only look away (away!)
We'll not be victims there'll be no victims of to speak
And only then will we be free
And up will rise the meek

And when we fall we will fall together
No one will catch us so we'll catch ourselves
And where we roam we will roam forever
No one will understand what we meant.

The beaten and the bruised, forsaken, the abused
Oh what a glorious day we'll have rising up and claiming all our dues
The day will come as sure as the ever-setting sun
All of those that self-imposed will find themselves so indisposed

And we know not what we do (Can you hear their call?)
Will we ever make it through?
As they watch us fall from the sky to the ground to the sea
Woe is me, woe is me, no one will save you now
We can only look away (away!)
We will not be victims there'll be no victims of to speak
And only then will we be free
And up will rise the meek

And when we fall we will fall together
No one will catch us so we'll catch ourselves
And where we roam we will roam forever
No one will understand what we meant

Now, with the line drawn in the wet sand
You need to tell us where to stand
Sitting waiting watching rotting everything they warned us of is true
Now tell me what we're all supposed to do

They're coming after all of us with everything they've got
With the fury of a soldier who will answer to his God
So how will we fight? All we have is logic and love on our side

And when we fall we will fall together
No one will catch us so we'll catch ourselves
And where we roam we will roam forever
No one will understand what we meant

Lyrics:

John Brown killed five slave holders by the Pottawatomie creek
John Brown killed five slave holders by the Pottawatomie creek
Cut them down with his switch board but he let the slaves go free

Good people of Missouri thought John Brown was insane
Good people of Missouri thought John Brown was insane
Meanwhile in their back yards they had human beings in chains

John Brown rose up early in the morning before the sun could rise
He had 200 rifles riding by his side
He said, "Now don't you weep now, Mary
Don't you weep for me
Going down to Harper's ferry, the US armory"

Give the guns [to the people]
Give the power [to the people]
Give the freedom [to the people]
Give the rights [to the people]
Gonna rise up [with the people]
Gonna march [with the people]
Gonna fight [for the people]
Liberate [for the people]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now

Oh Kansas bloody Kansas
What lies buried in your name. How much more blood must be shed before we wash away the shame
Oh someone tell me how long how long must we endure this sacrifice
Oh Kansas bloody Kansas someone tell me When will this suffice?

John Brown
They hung him and they laid him in his grave
John Brown
They hung him and they laid him in his grave
John Brown's lies a-moulderin'
But his spirit walks today

Give the guns [to the people]
Give the power [to the people]
Give the freedom [to the people]
Give the rights [to the people]
Gonna rise up [with the people]
Gonna march [with the people]
Gonna fight [for the people]
Liberate [all the people]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Give the guns [to the people]
Give the power [to the people]
Give the freedom [to the people]
Give the rights [to the people]
Gonna rise up [with the people]
Gonna march [with the people]
Gonna fight [for the people]
Liberate [all the people]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]
Freedom now [freedom now]

There’s a lot of different lefty political ways to think
And most of them think that most of them mostly stink
But maybe there’s some things we could agree on, I mean isn’t it fair to say—
We could start by taking the billionaires’ money away

Why don’t we just take the billionaire’s money away?
And spend it on shit for which millionaires say
We can’t afford to pay
We could start by taking the billionaires’ money away

There’s like, eight guys who own more than half of the whole human race
I’d like to sit down with you, and chat about just what that says
But I can’t be bothered, I’d rather be talking with people who are ready today
Ready to take those billionaires’ money away

And spend it on
Healthcare
Childcare
Transcare
Eldercare
Mental care
Dental care
Shelter
Etc.
You get the picture?

Some say we can’t do it, on account of the economy
Because rich people own more of it, so it scares investment, you see
But we’ve been doing it their way for a long time now, how’s that working out?
Okay. Then let’s innovate by taking the billionaires’ money away.

Now let’s take it up a tax bracket…

Some say we can’t do it, because the billionaires keep it all hid
But the government could find it if it wanted to, what if they did?
So if you say it can’t be done, I’m done with you, chum
Go take a billion holidays in the sun
With your friend, the Aga Khan
Or Richard Branson
Or that schmuck from Amazon
While the rest of us take the billionaires’ money away

We’re gonna take the billionaires’ money away
And spend it on shit for which millionaires say
We can’t afford to pay
We’re gonna take those billionaires’ money away

Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you -
We are many and they are few.
We are many - they are few.

What is Freedom?—you can tell
That which slavery is, too well—
For its very name has grown
To an echo of your own.

It is to work and have such pay
As just keeps life from day to day
In your limbs, as in a cell
For the tyrants’ use to dwell,

And to be for them made
Loom, and plough, and sword, and spade,
With or without your own will bent
To their defense and nourishment.

Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you -
We are many and they are few.
We are many - they are few.

This is a poem for the planet and its people
Who want to see the planet thrive in peace
And not cease

This is a poem for the planet and its people
Who want to see the planet thrive in peace
And not cease

This is a poem for the planet and its people
Who want to see the planet thrive in peace
And not cease

There is a place, an unassuming place
Where pure love grows
It grows in spite of, and despite, despair
In and out of the dark, darkness it grows
To bring light, to bring life
There, in that place, in that unassuming, sacred place
Where pure love grows

There, in that place, that unassuming place, sacred place
Where pure love grows
And all of the deities and magic seem to conspire together
To create the most perfect, imperfect place
Magical, miracle, love growing through steel and concrete
And broken dreams and bad choices
And lift their voices in song
To become the strongest most purest form of love
Real love

Laboured-on type love
Been-through-some-shit type love
Almost-died type love
All-I-wanna-do-is-live type love

This is a poem for the planet and its people
Who want to see the planet thrive in peace
And not cease

This is a poem for the planet and its people
Who want to see the planet thrive in peace
And not cease

Deadline, no time
Gotta save the planet before we flatline
Too late to rewind
Mindsets need to be reset, redesigned
Unwind from this mortal coil
Plant your heart and feet in the soil
'Cause these old ways ain't loyal
Plant some new shit and then fix it
The planet, that is, 'cause-

Deadline, no time
Gotta save the planet before we flatline
Deadline, no time
Gotta save the planet before we flatline

What we leave here matters
It seeps into Earth's core
Becomes its energy, its force, its fire
Like lava or love
We choose whether to burn
Or whether to build, whether to kill
Or whether to create, whether to make new
Whether to make better
Whether to make together
What we leave here matters

This is a poem for the planet and its people
Who want to see the planet thrive in peace
And not cease

Deadline, no time
Gotta save the planet before we flatline
Right now is the time
Can't believe you can't see it
Now do it, be it, dream it, shine

This is a poem for the planet and its people
Who want to see the planet thrive in peace
And not cease
