I don't know if I like it or if I hate it. On one hand they're literally stealing the content off those sites, and on the other hand the sites kind of deserve it for telling me their whole life story before I get to the recipe.
Yeah, but them telling you their life stories is also Googles fault...
Really? I always assumed it was about ad revenue by making you view more webpage.
I think it's seo and ad revenue, but who dictates the rules for ad revenue? Obviously not just Google, but yeah still pretty much at fault.

Does Google care if the content is there but hidden with CSS? I don't think you need to actually torture the users.
Hidden text or color matched text has resulted in an SEO penalty since like 2003.
That wouldnt keep users trapped on the site as long. Trapping the users on the site longer makes Google rank it higher.
