Oh, goodie, another locked-down ad and DRM machine.

Yeah no. 20 bucks for a pi zero and libreelec. No ads, you can play retro games on it and did I mention, NO ADS!
can I install Plex on it?
It has a plex addon. I watch plex on it every day, same as twitch and youtube.
They inject ads on those things?!? Why would anybody buy it?
$100 and it doesn't even include the HDMI cable?
Now that every TV is a smart TV who's the target audience?
I buy devices like Apple TV to replace the built in shitty smart tv functionality on smart tvs. I do not want ads so I do not connect my tv to the internet, and instead connect my streaming box.
Yes but this offers the exact same functionality and built-in ads/tracking that you will find in any androidtv based smarttv.
They even list having ads (recommended shows on a service that you aren't subscribed are ads, not recommendations) that cover 80% of the home screen as a feature
To be fair, smart TVs are terrible enough to leave disconnected from the internet...
All I want to know is:
- Can I watch Twitch streams on it?
- Does it have a built in browser, I can watch videos from non-app services on?
I've been using roku for what feels like 15 to 20 years. I'm finally ready to buy an Apple TV just to be able to watch Twitch on it. If Google TV Streamer either has an official Twitch app, or can install normal android apps, like the Twitch app from the play store, and has a web browser that can play videos from standard websites, I am sold.
If someone has, or buys a streamer, please let me know with a reply.
It's just an Android device technically, which means you can probably break into it
my Chromecast with Google TV has the regular twitch app. I've never used it and the reviews are bad, but it's there
The Verge is nothing but an advertiser for big tech. the TV Streamer would be fine if they hadn't killed their entire line of Chromecast at the same time
But what about my project? That thing would look pants
