Hmph. I spend ten minutes making a stupid meme using this ridiculously opaque phone markup app, only to be immediately downvoted. This is what I get for trying to elevate the quality of political discourse.

You just gotta believe.

I love your meme!

Why call for a ceasefire and simultaneously provide the weapons to continue murdering civilians? Oh because it's all just for optics.

I assume it's to be able to say there's a large difference between voting Harris and Trump for voters who care about Palestine. Which I imagine is at least part of what you mean by 'optics'.

However, if my family were dying in Palestine, I still would not be happy. "We'll kill them BUT send aid" is not enough of a difference from "We'll kill them but NOT send aid".

Here are thoughts from a Palestinian American: https://alx.lemmy.blahaj.zone/lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/17849964

Oh because it's all just for optics.

Hey, that's a highly reductionist take. When did super charging the military industrial complex become "just for optics"?

Without funneling billions of dollars to corporations like RTX, this would be a very wildly unamerican conflict.

We have a plane highway to get arms to Israel. Talk about a smoke screen here.

We sure could save a lot of money if we weren't sending weapons to the aggressors just so we can then send aid to the victims.

Interesting way to ~~burn~~ blow up money, sending targets for the Israelis to bomb.

Maybe we should try to stop the Israelis from their campaign of genocide before trying to do the whole 'humanitarian aid' thing?

Or at least get the Israelis to actually let the aid in?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes. Will this aid actually reach those in need? I've seen allegations that IDF soldiers have filmed themselves stealing aid, which is troubling.

These are not allegations. There is videos of it. They proudly make these themselves and put them online.

Cool. Gonna use it as an excuse to re-open the pier to faciltate another massacre and then shut it down again?

Highly doubtful that most if even ANY of it is going to reach the people who need it.

EXTREMELY likely that they'll send the fascist apartheid regime weapons totaling at least 20 times as much between now and the end of the year, though.

Blinken is a disgraceful collaborator and should resign immediately.
