What was the point of all those acquisitions then? This is horrible

The main purpose was to acquire all the IPs.
I was wondering when they were gonna stop eating every single studio, I guess they tried to brute force their way to profit and are now realizing it was a terrible plan
God, what a strange company, their Wikipedia gave me a headache. Apparently THQ Nordic is now Austrian?
Yes .... and Swedish. There were two companies named "THQ Nordic" one holding-company in Sweden and their publishing arm in Austria.
The Swedish company got renamed Embracer but the Austrian arm stayed as THQ Nordic.
I imagine that Volition is on the chopping block.
The restructuring will be overseen by Saber boss Matthew Karch and former Square Enix USA boss Phil Rogers, who have been tapped by Wingefors in new executive roles.
That doesn't inspire confidence after how Square Enix studios in the US were run.
Well fuck.
Embrace extend extinguish.
Gonna presume the reason why they haven't announced which studios are being hit is because they haven't yet told them. So there's now 15k+ people sat that their desks worrying if they'll have a pay check in a few weeks time. That sucks.
Embracer Group owns a whole load of stuff. I think they own the Deus Ex IP now too since Square Enix sold it off to focus on NFT's.
Anyways I hope no one loses their job and they can continue to put out great games.
Really worrying that they wouldn't announce which studios will get hit. The newest Saints Row was a bomb, but the rest of their companies seem to be doing pretty well. It would be annoying if good studios get laid off from this...
I can't say I'm surprised honestly - after Saints Row was such a commercial failure I can't imagine they're going to be throwing their weight behind a sequel...
