Don't know who else they think they'd need to push them to win it all. He's perfect for them. He's a better fit for them than for Miami.

Dame is such a weird player, he's fantastic, but he's up there in age and making shit loads of money.

And honestly, I don't see him pushing most teams over the edge, especially what they'd have to give up to get him.

So you're basically trading a huge contract to tread water.

Quite frankly, this doesn't make sense to me. He's a great fit with that team. Their half court died in the playoffs and Dame would unlock that. Dame is what they need.

Respectfully disagree - his age doesn’t match with timeline and his contract cripples the team for the next three years.

You must have forgotten Kemba Walker. Or Kyrie. Neither of them fit the "timeline" of the Js. Neither has Horford yet how many years he's played with the Js? Timelines are over-rated. No team has the same age starters running together for a decade. That's a thing of the past with mega contracts of today. Dame is 30. He'll be productive for the next 3 years before drastic decline like Lowry at 35/36. Lowry won the chip when he was 34. Nobody said he was on his decline in 2019.

Might be because of all his talk about only wanting Miami? Don't wanna take the risk he doesn't give it his all?

Not super familiar with the Celtics cap situation though so could be that too.

They can trade for him and it won't impact their cap.

My tinfoil hat theory is that this is their public line so they don't piss off Jaylen Brown, but they're still down.

Or they offered Jaylen and Portland hard passed.

If dame had been available before the porzingis trade it might have happened. Now I doubt Boston could make it happen without giving up Jaylen Brown since most of their other assets are gone.

Celtics got plenty of assets. It's Miami who's got nothing.
