I don't play Xbox, but this is just stupid.
A: $1 more for "hundreds of games including day one"? Wtf is the point then?
2: why in the name of Homer J Fuck would you not put the MCC on there just on principle?!

On your first point, this is a standard upsell which will easily get people up to the second tier. After that they can start increasing the prices and bridging the gap in cost once they have onboarded as many people as possible.
A $1 up sell? Really? That just seems like a waste, they should drop core to $6.99 and pop the next level to $11.99 or so, that dollar just looks stupid.
$1 extra each month is nothing for you, but $1 extra from hundreds of thousands of subscribers each month is a lot of money and is exactly the point of the upsell strategy. Make the first tier undesirable so no one will want it.
This is exactly why every fastfood place has at least 3 sizes of cups. If you have 2 sizes, small and large, nobody will buy large. Rename "large" to "medium" and add a third size, and people will buy a lot more "medium" sizes.
But then they ramp the difference up to $10 once everyone is subscribed.
Game Pass for console doesn't have online play. Core looks to essentially be Xbox Live, but with a small game library instead of Games With Gold.
Just a $1 difference between getting 25 games and the entire game pass library? They really want to boost their subscriber counts huh.
The $11 version doesn't have multiplayer though. The two are not similar, which makes this a bit more confusing.
That's not cool. I'm old enough that I refuse to pay for multiplayer.
Yeah, I stopped playing video games altogether about 10 years ago due to all this. I'm not interested in playing games under these terms
Games you acquired with games with gold will require a subscription? That must be a mistype
Xbox 360 games were yours to keep forever, Xbox one and later are as long as your sub is active IIRC.
Thought this has always been the case
Making it even more needlessly complicated like PS+ (or whatever it is these days).
Guess least there should be less confusion on what to buy and what you get but really seems like they want to give away games at this stage.
So this is a done deal then?
Well, I guess. Do we get to keep the games that we had under Games with Gold, or is it just limited to those twenty-five titles?
You keep them as long as you remain subscribed.
the fuck.
It’s been that way since XB1 games came to GWG. It was only 360 games that get added to your account as if you own them.
Fine by me.
