Did a quick Tolkein nerd canon review and while there's nothing inherently contradictory, squirrels are a bit more vicious than you may imagine. I've seen them eat baby birds out of their nests, it's grotesque and just today on a smoke break I saw an acorn drop from a tree and a squirrel on the ground barely miss getting squashed by a car getting it. I gave the squrriel a talking to and then looked the branch the acorn fell from and there was another squirrel on it. That was attempted murder with malice aforethought in any court of law. I'm an Aminal Guy but squirrels are on the chimp and hippo Chaotic Evil Animal. Watch out for em
