If I want a Debian based distro with the latest stable plasma, which one would you recommend?
Hmm, if you count something based on Ubuntu as being Debian based (some people do, some people don't) then I believe that is exactly what KDE Neon is supposed to be!
Hmm.. does it have any telemetry? I'm worried about user data collection. I know Ubuntu has that. It's fairly easy to remove but I'd rather not have it to begin with.
That I'm not sure of unfortunately. From the Plasma side of things I know telemetry has always been specifically opt-in, but I don't know whether KDE Neon has the canonical telemetry disabled out of the box (my gut instinct says it would be disabled, but I have zero proof of this).

Unlikely. Best option would be to it in a VM, or install a second distro to your drive and upgrade it to Plasma 6.

Those wallpapers are part of plasma 6?
Just updated my Arch laptop to Beta 2 this morning. Can't wait to use it much more later. :)
Isn't it disorienting to have the wallpaper change every 2 seconds?
Pretty sure it is only configured like that to show off the new wallpaper through the video. I don't think I've ever seen a distro ship KDE with a rotating wallpaper (its always a static one, whether its KDE's main wallpaper, or the distro's selected wallpaper).
You can have a wallpaper slideshow. That said, the default is a change every 10 minutes and not every 2 seconds like here. But as we don't know the final winner of the wallpaper contests yet, we decided to run through the six finalists (which we do know and are public).
However, let me show you something that is a builtin to the Plasma wallpaper feature:
Oh that's pretty sweet! I've used the slideshow for a while (and have always wondered why Plasma is the only desktop I have used that lets you set wallpapers per-screen...), but I had no clue about that one!
