Ah yes, Christmas trees and gifts, the most christian of traditions. Who could forget the iconic parts of the Bible where Jesus suddenly explained the advent of Capitalism and how we should use this one day for even more Capitalism. Kinda lazy of those early christians to wait about 1600 years before they started decorating trees just like the Bible always said to - no wonder God fucked them over so much in the past.
Murdered by Words
Responses that completely destroy the original argument in a way that leaves little to no room for reply - a targeted, well-placed response to another person, organization, or group of people.
The following things are not grounds for murder:
- Personal appearance ("You're fat", "You're ugly")
- Posts with little-to-no context
- Posts based on a grammar/spelling error
- Dick jokes, "Yo mama", "No, you" type responses and other low effort insults
- "Your values are bad" without any logcal or factual ways of showing that they are wrong ("I believe in capitalism" - "Well, then you must be evil" or "Fuck you you ignorant asshole")
Rules:
- Be civil and remember the human. No name calling or insults. Swearing in general is fine, but not to insult someone else.
- Discussion is encouraged but arguments are not. Don’t be aggressive and don’t argue for arguments sake.
- No bigotry of any kind.
- Censor the person info of anyone not in the public eye.
- If you break the rules you’ll get one warning before you’re banned.
- Enjoy the community in the light hearted way it’s intended.
That's a much better answer than "nobody loves you."
Pagan holiday highjacked by Christians.
Pagan solstice>Roman celebrating Saturnus adapted to include Galec and Germanic cultures>Christian Jesus born but not really so how accurate do we think we've recorded this word of god?
Jesus fathered himself after raping his own mother.
That's pretty Zeus
Why do Christians participate in the pagan traditions on Christmas?
This isn't murdering by words, and it's probably the least convincing response possible. A good response would be to point out the origin of the date of Christmas and what Christmas trees originally meant, which has fuckall to do with Christ as they are pagan in origin.
The impression I get from this sort of screenshot is that people on Twitter are mean spirited and kinda dumb
That's a pretty good summary of the platform honestly. You're just missing how everyone thinks they're a novel genius of sorts
How do you know nobody loves them? It's just a hateful response that makes us look bad
Agreed. Better to point out that is was not originally a Christian holiday, and is now more of a consumerist one.
I always love when people downvote an objective truth (your comment in this case) that has no sign of a weird agenda or anything bad about it, simply because they feel personally attacked because they liked something that is easily criticized
