I do not need to knit a giant goth coat, I do not need to knit a giant goth coat, I do not need to knit a giant goth coat...
@thegiddystitcher @Timecircleline If that's what your psyche is telling you to do then that's what's needed...it'll make you feel better I'm sure...plus, it'll be useful not just ornamental. I'll provide other justifications if you need them...
Haha, thank you for your service. It's gone into my Ravelry queue, so you never know! :D
If your taste skews in the direction of steampunk, then don't look at this book either ๐ซฃ. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/needles-and-artifice
Thank you for looking for me!
I was more enamored with the color work than the cloak design, though. I don't particularly care if it's any more complex than a circular cloak with pockets, but that bold geometric design is what I want to make!
@tehlaughing1 you might like the style of Native Knitter or Tsinbikeeknits
Both of these designers are in my favorites! I'm from NM too and their designs remind me of home.
Oh, I DO like these.
Does Native Knitter sell her patterns? I just found notions on her website.
@tehlaughing1 I was convinced she did but it seems she only has one on Ravelry!
Weird she didn't even link to it on her website!
Here's a link, she just goes by her name on there.
@tehlaughing1 ah yes! Oh there are some FUN patterns. I follow her on Insta but seeing them all together like this is quite something!
That is indeed a gorgeous cloak!
Are coats back in style?
Did they ever REALLY go out of style?
My design philosophy is: if it makes you (and the people you live with) happy, then why worry about what strangers think?

Something like this but make it longer, do a knot hood and find a simple colourwork pattern?
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/paper-houses
Or this, with a hood and in black and white?
It depends how comfortable you are modifying patterns, I guess pp
