It's not going to be as good as BG3, and I expect various excuses will be made about why.

BG3 was in development for 6 years, had a huge budget, and a development studio with experience making RPGs.

You can't expect a small, indie studio to match that when they've only had... Jesus 9 YEARS?!?!

They took five years to balance the micro transactions to best serve the shareholders.

Last I heard, there were rumors that the scrapped squad based combat in favor of a God of War style action RPG.

If that's the case, lol RIP and good riddance.

I wouldn't actually mind a "Grey Warden gets trapped in the Deep Roads" action spin off.

From the OG Bioware.

I mean I always thought the world of dragon age was interesting enough to do any game style. But I do think it’s a bit of a mistake to not market it as an alternative to a traditional dragon age.

From what I heard, they were dropping from four companions to three, Mass Effect style, and wanted the combat to be more like God of War. So my fear is it’s gonna be like Andromeda, where you can’t control your companions’ abilities at all.

It's gonna suck so hard

They said full announcement this summer, so this is encouraging! It's completely 50/50 right now. Either it's going to just flop and that's it for Bioware - or they learned their lesson and it's going to rejuvenate the brand.

BioWare has EA’s grubby fat fingers all up inside of it so I ain’t holding my breath. And I say that as someone who has a relative working for BioWare.

Agreed, but I'll give it 50/50. I'm not going to call it dead before anyone even sees it, but I'm not expecting Inquisition levels either.

Honestly, Inquisition is the low point in the series to me. If it can't clear that bar then Bioware may be toast. I've replayed Origins countless times and it's truly a great game. DA2 isn't a perfect game, and certainly shows signs of EA's influence degrading the product, but I have replayed of numerous and still find it a fun experience.

Inquisition, I think I've only completed it twice, at most. But replays always seem to stall out for me. I don't find the characters as engaging and the "open world" elements feel like something to be overcome rather than something I want to dive into and explore.

Honestly, I'd rather they go smaller and focus on well designed areas/missions/quests with fun and engaging characters. I don't need a huge map from a Bioware title. I just want a good story, with interesting characters and difficult narrative choices.

Their last decent game was over a decade ago and I'm half convinced the only good they actually put out was either a fluke or just didn't have any competition to show how bad it was. No way are they turning it around now, sadly.

At this point, I won’t believe it’s actually coming out until it’s actually for sale. I also don’t have any high hopes for it being very good if it does come out.
