After having quite a hard time starting up running. Multiple injuries from my weak ankles and numerous visits to a physiotherapist later. I've finally achieved my first big goal! ๐ŸŽ‰

Ah nice! That's quite speedy. I never really check my 5K, but apparently my fastest is at 25:03, which slightly annoys me now haha. That record is from a few months ago, but since then I've only focussed on 10K, half marathon, or double miles. I guess you've inspired me to go for a new 5K record

Goodluck!!! I guess my next one is breaking that 10K barrier

Congrats, that's quite a jump from the previous best! I'm also gunning for a sub-25min time. Last week 25:18 and yesterday 25:11. So close yet so far.

That's so close! You can definitely do it; just believe in yourself <3 Try not to put as much pressure on yourself! Maybe go for some slower, longer runs, or try some other type of training. That always helped me! I wasn't even really expecting to break my PR today and only really went for it when I noticed how well everything was going xD

Great job! Have you changed anything after your injuries in order to reach this goal?

I've changed quite a bit. When I started running, I didn't really do warm-ups and cooldowns, which definitely started some of my problems in the beginning. After running for a couple of weeks, I eventually understood how important warm-ups were and started incorporating them into my runs.

That's also around the time when I started my 5K program, so I had something to guide me instead of just going running :P

Besides that, one of the things that helped minimize my injuries the most was, firstly, making sure my running posture was good. I used to take huge steps, but I got that down by doing some cadence training. Secondly, by doing strength training and stretches every day, I got some very helpful exercises from my physiotherapist to help me get my ankles stronger, which helped me massively.

Great job! Please don't get discouraged if you regress some. After every milestone there's a high possibility of regression, maybe you won't be able to reach 5k on your next run, or not as fast and that's okay, it's a very slow slow progress but it's progress nonetheless

Thank you! To be honest I'm already perplexed that I somehow did this. Everything just felt good today, I won't be surprised if I am a little slower next time :P

Holy cow! 3 minutes is a massive drop. That's incredible!

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Thank you <3 I really surprised myself!

Garmin Connect. For Garmin watches

I just found that screen and don't get something: my 5K PB on there is about 30 seconds faster than my predicted race time. Does it assume it was a fluke or something?

congrats very well done!

Nice! Awesome milestone to pass!

Congrats! Were you on your limit? Or do you think you can cut that time down even lower in the near future?

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Maybe by a little bit but, I very much felt like I was dying at the end xD

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Nice! I'm sitting just under 40 minutes because I keep getting stitch and having to walk. I reckon I could push it and get pretty close to 30 if I didn't get stitch.

That last 5 minutes from 30 down to 25 must be a mission.

Great job! Keep it up! What's your next goal?
