I feel like knowing anything about that guy makes my life worse.

You're not wrong in that assessment.

I hope they get a fair trial, are allowed to present their defense, and are treated properly by the courts as defendents.

If they're found guilty I hope they're given a very long sentence in a very dark hole. No, I won't shed a tear if they're convicted. They're both human pieces of shit. If they're tried and convicted pieces of shit then the world will be a little bit better while they're incarcerated.

On one hand I'm pretty sure we all can be pretty confident he's guilty

On the other I wish everyone acted more like this instead of treating the idea of making a rich person go to court to find out the truth like it's an attack

Can we not make Lemmy all about divisive American politics please? :)

Trying to silence discussion of politics is itself a tacit endorsement of the status quo.

I think Jonny's comment was about the Trump reference in an article about a British man human trafficking women in Romania. No one is trying to silence discussion

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

True, but Trump is only tangentially related to Tate. If the discussion went further comparing their followers, that would be on topic.

It’s a single line at the end making light of their similarities. He wasn’t trying to make this website all about American politics as suggested.

It's even better for everyone that hates him to let him have at it in a fair trial. Why? Because he won't be able to claim he's been wronged. He will have had his chance, and if they convict him, it's proper to call him a rapist.

Let's give him a fair trial so we can make his new status official.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Oh they’ll claim his been wronged no matter what. Still, fair trial is the best outcome.

BONK!

too comical for such a serious piece of shit, but damn I'm hoping this saves people from him physically and frees anyone already entrapped

it's absurd how pervasive an "influencer" like this can become with such a vile message in no time flat

freeing people from his ideology = lifetime battle

how to avoid more of them

I'm imagining it being like the end of a fantasy movie when the evil witch's curse is broken and everyone is released from her control at the same time.

Nobody knows where they are, what they were doing, or who Andrew Tate is. Chaos is all around as everyone is coming back to reality at the same time.

It takes society years to fully recover, but finally people can live their lives again.

OOTL: who is he and why is this a story?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Massively popular influencer who bragged about sex trafficking, avoiding taxes with crypto, and had courses on how to become a sex trafficker. He talks about women as if they’re literal property, and brags about using coercion to exploit women into sex work, and using fraud to take their money. That’s the legal definition of sex trafficking.

He moved to a county where he bragged that he cnet be touched because it’s so corrupt and he can just pay them off. Said country arrested him and charged him with the crimes he openly articulated committing, and a little rape for the cherry on top.

His popularity cannot be overstated. He had 25 million people watching his streak at one time. That’s like Super Bowl numbers. His fans are a cult.

Here’s a legal breakdown:

Obviously investigators would have additional evidence.

He's a self-help guru who primarily targets young men and is notable for being comically misogynistic and essentially equating women to inanimate objects. Unfortunately, he has a huge cult following in spite or maybe even because of this.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Like cult enough to where is followers deny it if convicted?

100% cult-MLM
