I'm trying out Mythic Game Master Emulator with Dungeon World. I've only done a few sessions of game setup but I'm already very impressed with the GME. I'd love to hear from you if you have thoughts or questions about solo roleplaying in general, Mythic in particular, or even just tabletop roleplaying in general.

Head over to https://rpg.grapesoda.games/dw for the journal entries so far!

After never having considered the idea of solo roleplaying before I stumbled across Mythic GME and it has become my new hyper fixation. Not only is it a blast to play solo, but I can't wait to use it to help me run my home game. My wife and I also spent several hours the other evening playing a Traveller session using Mythic as our guide. What a blast! :D

I was just working on my current Ironsworn story at work, and I suddenly wondered about whether I considered it to be personal or private, or how I would feel if someone started watching over my shoulder. It made me think if I would roleplay differently if I knew someone else was watching or would read the story later.

How do you feel about your solo roleplays? Are they private, deeply personal stories or would you be happy showing them to other people?

I think this TTRPG series is based off of some books?

A free extract from the official core book of the RPG:

The Domestic is an introductory scenario designed for one player, based on Ben Aaronovitch’s short story of the same name. Choose to play as a magic-wielding police officer, nurse, or social worker in a game set in the world of Ben Aaronovitch’s hugely successful Rivers of London series.

Armed with this book, a pencil, and some roleplaying dice, you are ready to take on your first case for the Folly. No GM needed!

I am currently researching some oracles for new game. I know the Muses & Oracles but it's a French one. And I can't find the equivalent in English.

So on a larger question: Which Oracle would you recommend?

This is a new add-on for Vaesen. Did anybody bought it already?

I am really curious to know if this is the start of a recognition of a market niche of solo players.

I am an aspiring game creator and love experimenting with graphic design and accessibility, this is my latest project and am thinking of expanding it to a full booklet. Inspired by Dying Earth and others!

Not actually an RPG (a space game actually), but it has lots of RPG elements - equipment, level system, skills, skill trees, quests&quest lines...

Lately I've been using solo play tools more and more in my prep. For example instead of just pulling a town out of my imagination or from a bunch of tools. I've (mainly) used Ironsworn to solo play some episodes in that town. Creating details about it as I've gone along. Also used Artefact (more of a journaling game) with good effect to create legendary items. To get into the Glorantha setting, get into the "right" mindset, the solo choose-you-own-adventure I've found great.

But I'm always looking for new tools to, if nothing else, get new perspectives on things. My default Ironsworn is leaning kinda heavily into more perilous and grim episodes.

Happy for any and all recommendations!

So… for a while I’ve wanted to a) try and get into RPGs more and b) try my hand at creative writing…

The consequence of that is I’m having a go at a solo journal based rpg and I decided to blog it!

Check it out - let me know what you think? Feedback greatly appreciated!

Mörk Borg Solo Rules (morkborg.exlibrisrpg.com)

Want to play solo between your weekly games? Want to practice to get familiar with the game, and try generating new ideas, and getting as Mörky Borgy as you can alone? These rules are for you.

What sorts of tools/apps/programs/etc do people use to journal or record their solo adventures? I would love to have a fancy notebook and roll physical dice but being realistic I think something I could run on my Android as either a web or native app and handle both dice rolls and journaling would be ideal. I'm currently considering RoleGate since I use it for some PBP games with moderate success but I'd love to hear what other people use or have considered, either as all-in-one or standalone journals/dice/etc to make a complete system.

Her Odyssey (mirror-lock.itch.io)
submitted 1 year ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Build a rich world, create a character backstory, explore an ongoing adventure, or all three at once - with nothing more than a deck of standard playing cards and a handful of d4s.

Meant to be played by a single player at a slow, contemplative pace, Her Odyssey can be completed in a few hours - or it can become a daily ritual, taking you on a metaphorical journey alongside your wanderer for up to two months per playthrough. Dozens of open-ended Hazard prompts provide a starting point for all sorts of adventures and misadventures. Four optional variant rules allow you to customize your game for the perfect genre and level of difficulty.
