It just makes him look like an mentally ill suicide victim.

Imagine looking at this and reaching the conclusion that it is he and not the world that has gone mad.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Anyone who blames themselves for something they have absolutely no say in or control over, to the degree they are willing to set themselves on fire over it, is mentally ill.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Your confused. Self-immolation isn't about self-punishment anymore than any other protest method.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's the "we are all culpable" leading to the immolation that's indicative of mental illness.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He said "we are all culpable" not "I alone am culpable."

I think most if not all of the "he's nuts" talk is from people who would rather not consider themselves culpable.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He said “we are all culpable” not “I alone am culpable.”

And that's stupid binary thinking and he was wrong.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

I think most if not all of the “he’s nuts” talk is from people who would rather not consider themselves culpable.

Thus.

Any world in which the principal superpower lets a tiny nation write its foreign policy for it, to the point where that superpower is giving the tiny nation the means to commit genocide and refuses to stop, is a profoundly sick world.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Israel attacked an intelligence gathering ship to prevent it from realizing that Israel was the one starting shit in Syria... then the US really started supporting it.

Israel is a blight on the world.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What, are you 16? Do you think this is some kind of life-changing insight?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

It changes nothing. He's still dead and the genocide continues for your entertainment.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm gonna say the guy that self immolated was not mentally well even if I agree with his cause

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

By comparison with a world in which the major superpower can't muster a candidate who opposes genocide? Yeah, the world is way sicker than this guy was.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm not nor was I comparing it to anything. If you self immolate, that's a very strong indicator you're not mentally well. Again, I agree with their cause but it's really weird to imply they were mentally healthy when they decided to light themselves on fire and die horrifically

[–] [email protected] -4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What does sanity even mean in an insane world?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wow, that's some deep thought, there, R D Laing. What if we're the crazy ones?

People close to me have schizophrenia. It's as much a disease as cancer is. If you don't believe that, you've never experienced it up close, or you have an inability to learn from direct experience.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

People close to me have schizophrenia.

Same. I don't use their sickness as an excuse to ignore atrocities.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

For knowing that genocide is madness.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I mean dude did kill himself by setting himself on fire. That's pretty nuts

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I mean, we're kinda working on that as a species as well.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And would you call that sane?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Nope. But we're gonna keep doing it anyway, and calling this guy crazy because it's easier than admitting that we are all culpable.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

You are in no position to determine my degree of culpability, or that of anyone who's not pulling a trigger.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Wash those hands, Pilate.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

a guy committed suicide by setting himself on fire

yeah but you know global warming, so aren't we all crazy

Friend, come on

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If you want to pretend that we live on a sane planet, well, when on Earth, do as the Earthlings do, I guess.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm saying killing yourself over US actions isn't a sane move. You brought up global warming in reply as if that meant anything in this discussion.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’m saying killing yourself over US actions isn’t a sane move.

And I'm saying that no product of this barking mad oblate spheroid is qualified to make that assessment. But dismissing him as insane is a great way to not have to treat his rebuke to humanity as the just condemnation it is.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He did covered himself in gasoline and light that up as a form of suicide. It does sound a bit insane.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe one day someone will say something that causes you to consider similar words to his. Oh who am I kiddin'. It's just crazy talk.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe one day someone will say something that causes you to consider similar words to his.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what this means. Similar words to whose, what words?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’m sorry but I have no idea what this means.

Yeah, I know. It wasn't support for genocide, so you didn't listen at all.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You have no idea he even said anything, huh?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

"We are all culpable" says the title, didn't read more into it than that.

Maybe one day someone will say something that causes you to consider similar words to his.

This is still puzzling me. Maybe some day someone will say something that will make me consider saying the same thing that made me do the considering. Did I understand that correctly? It just seems like a confusing sentence imo.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

“We are all culpable” says the title, didn’t read more into it than that.

Oh, you were finally able to read it.

This is still puzzling me. Maybe some day someone will say something that will make me consider saying the same thing that made me do the considering.

No, maybe someday will say something that causes you to consider similar words instead of immediately dismissing anything that isn't support for genocide as insanity.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No I read the title before commenting anything here. i just had no idea what words and from whom you meant.

maybe someday will say something that causes you to consider similar words instead of immediately dismissing anything that isn’t support for genocide as insanity

I don't know if this helped me to understand what you are saying. "Someday will say something that causes me to consider similar words"? Whuut. I'm not a native English speaker so sorry if that's why I don't get it but I have no idea what you mean with that.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Someday, someone who is more convincing than I am will convince you that any words that aren't support for genocide and only genocide aren't utter insanity.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay, I get it now. But I wasn't calling being anti-genocide insanity, rather burning yourself alive over it.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But I wasn’t calling being anti-genocide insanity

If you say so.
