Is it on f-droid? I don't have google play store, I run a totally degoogled phone.

Download Obtanuim and Aurora Store. Obtamuim let's you download straight from Github repos and will autoupdate those apps

Aurora is just a custom frontend for Play store but you don't need an account. Its anonymous.

I don't think so, IIRC Sync uses Google's push notifications only.

No as far as i'm aware.

You may not be able to pay for the ad-free version on a degoogled device, if that's something you were considering

It's not on fdroid because sync is proprietary garbage, complete with ads, tracking, and subscription business model. Gross.
