literally how is every student in that class not going to see that and go "oh, okay, this is prison. we're inmates. all the adults here hate us and there's no point in trying to gain their approval."
There could be many reasons why you dont think that:
The kid is a piece of shit and has been asking for an assbeating for a long time. It being a cop doing it doesnt make a difference and may make it the ideal situation because that person may have power over you for various reasons. The people you go to school with in this environment are also what make the experience so miserable. It's funny that you ask that because a low-income public school shares a lot of culture that a prison would have.
You dont get involved because you don't want to get in trouble
Don't care.
You've developed reactionary politics from being exposed to this kind of stuff daily but not really understanding the underlying cause.
Your sympathy lies with the teacher who is just trying to do their job. FROM MY EXPERIENCE, rarely do the teachers work against you, they are excited when you do well. They do care and are passionate, the ones looking for an easy check leave quickly or move on to a better school district after hearing "fuck you bitch" for the nth time.
Also there's a power dynamic and balance these teachers have to maintain in this environment that lies between getting walked all over and being respected. Respect generally is given to teachers, the students dont really care if they have the teachers.
The adults dont hate you but what can you do about a child who is threatening you with violence? Or is not willing to listen? It really is the child who is the instigator in a lot of these situations but that doesn't mean theyre the ones to entirely take blame because American society being a garbage failure.
In my school for example, gangbangers would get pretty close with the security guards ironically as they were neutral adults who didnt expect or demand anything from them.
even if you accept the premises of the system, that people who get punished deserve it, that's not the reasoning of a student, that's the reasoning of a prisoner. education isn't possible when the student's only goal is compliance.
The other students also make it a prison. There's layers to this, my friends little brother got beat up by one kid for no reason and they couldnt retaliate because the kid was in a gang.
Like I don't think it's good that people deprived of resources and a functioning society get this treatment when they act as outputs of someone who is deprived like that. On top of that you have no idea what's going on or not going on at that persons home. But sometimes its personal, you want to see the dipshit making your day to day real non-internet life miserable get theirs.
If you wanna argue with me on this just disengage i dont want to talk anyone who hasnt been through a shithole public school on this topic
I didn't know we were arguing. It sounds like you're agreeing with me. My point is that cops beating the shit out of kids is not conducive to good schools, which I thought was uncontroversial.
I agree with you but only to a certain point i guess and i feel bad about it.
