Well my day has started out badly. Was rushing out and turned out of my car port too sharply and fast and ended up damaging my rear car door and scraping it along brick work.

Fml

Dug deep enough to peel off paint and even warp the end of the rear door and the chassis a little.

Car will function still and not sure if the damage will cause any ill effects.

God I hate my life and this hurts so bad

Dab some nail polish on any scratches deep enough to reach the metal to prevent rust.

I rang one of my friends to ask. Going to see if I can get one the closest shade to my paint

Just go the the supermarket and get a cheap clear coat

[–] Duenan 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nail polish? I don’t know anything about nail polish.

What do you suggest I get?

[–] Thornburywitch 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Any colour or clear. Go to the cheap end of line bin at Priceline or chemists warehouse or similar and get a bottle. Probably won't cost more than a couple of bux. There might even be a colour there that's close or use a colourless one (top coat). There's a tiny brush inside the cap for applying it. Easily removed with acetone when the time comes to fix the car. Just tell the mechanic or spray painter or whoever that you used nail polish on the bare metal if any. One coat should be sufficient to protect against rust, but do maybe two if it'll be a while before getting the damage fixed properly.

I just don’t have the money to fix it or anything so I have to do the cheapie option, thank you for the suggestion.

Kmart seems to have what I need and they’re only 2.80 a bottle.

Am I in trouble if I can’t get it fixed professionally in the foreseeable future?

[–] Thornburywitch 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not a professional here, but I understand that any damage to the paint/coating can lead to water/rust damage. More of a problem where the car is out in the weather and there's violent weather and/or extremes of temperature change. If you have a way to keep the car under cover most of the time that will help. Paint damage doesn't help with resale value.

Ok thanks.

I’m not worried about reselling but the rust issue dies worry me. This might be the start of the end if my car :(

WD40 and a magic eraser block pad can get paint off from other cars and buildings and also marks. Just don't rub too deeply or else you might rub the car paint off.

I think I might be scared of doing more damage to my car using that combination of its strong enough to strip paint.

Car touchup pen any use to you as a temporary option?

https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/paint-panel/colour-match-paint/touch-up-pens

But if it’s down to bare metal you might want to click to the entire paint section to get yourself a primer too

Edit: There are also more paint colours available in the spray cans. Some are $5 on clearance

I guess it’s too late. I put the nail polish on. At least for now it’s protect it a little.

I’m just stressed i guess and couldn’t afford much more than what I already had.

The colour is call purple blue I think it’s and a metallic paint. Not sure how easy that would have been to find.

Guess it couldn’t have been worse than me using an off colour nail polish like I just did.

Anyway I’m going to see if I can clean this off my hands and I guess sink into how much my life sucks and wishing i took it easy this morning pulling out of my car port.

Arrrghhhhh. Car pain is the worst pain. 😞 my heart hurt for you just reading that. I hope the rear door damage won't be too bad in the long run

[–] Duenan 5 points 1 year ago

Got some long nasty marks and dented a little.

Definitely hurts the heart. As long as the car still runs I suppose but still 😢
