What the liberal fails to understand is that the power now lies in the leftist hands.
In 2016, it was unknown how bad trump could be.
In 2020, we were told "see, unless you want more of this, you better hold your nose, vote blue, and then we'll push left"
But in the past 4 year, much to the surprise of no one who's paid attention, there has only been a right-ward shift. So now, it's not "hey leftist, if you don't blue you get trump!", it's more like "he democrats, unless you actually shift left, you're getting more of trump"
The Democrats don't see themselves as having any real incentive to move substantially to the left on any points other than in terms of almost entirely superficial work-identity-politics marketing. They will continue to campaign for college-educated people on the basis on their supposedly greater social progressiveness, while making absolutely no concessions on positions regarding class, and which means that in concrete reality they will not deal with the socio-economic structures that allow and reinforce other socially reactionary practices. Not only that, but it will just lead to further radicalization of the far right as they increasingly delegitimize themselves. A part of me suspects that the real danger is the Republicans securely grabbing enough of a working-class base to make it difficult for Democrats to win an election again, which would make the Republicans more brazenly not give any fucks and pass legislation they would otherwise be more hesitant to pass given the risk of alienating voters.
Like seriously who is gunna march and knock on doors for Biden other than the most depraved, gentrifying, condo-sniffing PMCs and trust-fund kid liberals?
Unfortunately, people are so deep in the propaganda they mindlessly think "vote Blu no matter who1!1!11!" even more "lefty" people, see this post for example https://slrpnk.net/pictrs/image/bf6984d4-e873-49d4-9b04-1d05661fa00a.webp
