We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

Serverpartdeals has an 18TB for $165 right now. That's would I would get. In fact, I've bought 6 of them in the last couple months.
This one? https://serverpartdeals.com/collections/black-friday-cyber-monday-deals It's showing $185
No, this one.
Ah, Refurbished though ... Comment below said to avoid them and get a Recertified one instead: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/184r0u1/comment/kayd6v3
Ditto. I've been waiting on those to drop and ordered a ton while they were on sale for BF. Serverpartdeals.com is legit and their customer service is fantastic. With the savings, you can buy more drives to have hot or cold spares on hand if/when a drive fails, and you'll still come out ahead.
