World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Friendly reminder that Israel weaponized sexual violence long before even Hamas was a thing, let alone Oct 7.
Everything that Hamas did on Oct 7, Israel has already done to the Palestinian people.
Rape was always a disgusting strategy of war
Absolutely.
Friendly reminder your friendly reminder has no observable purpose beyond whataboutism.
But did you condemn Israel?
Friendly reminder, don't believe people posting random shit without evidence. So your own research and fact check the sources for bias.
Often times you'll find people like the above that just want you to support terrorists by attempting to invalidate human suffering with lies.
Friendly reminder, this genocide has shown the world how Israel operates.
Often times you’ll find people like the above defending genocidal colonist states by attempting to invalidate human suffering with lies.
Like for instance the above user posts nothing but pro-Israel comments. Such an inauthentic account is designed to manipulate you.
I mean Israel itself has admitted to pouring funds into having internet warriors spread propaganda and negatively target anything that challenges their narrative. A better use of time would be to continue spreading the information they're trying to suppress and spread them thin.
Exactly. Disgusting and extreme brutality on both sides but especially from the Israeli side and for generations now.
Cool. Source? Also this is a news article about a specific event. That's why they are describing and framing the article of how Hamas did it on that day.
No. Not cool.

Yes I get that. But realize that rape is rape. Trivializing rape of other people or asking for evidence while taking stories from your own at face value is bullshit.
If we are condemning Hamas for its atrocities in Israel then we must condemn Israel for what it has been committing for the past 75 years. Yes, 75 - there are documented cases of rape committed by Israelis against Palestinians during the Nakba.
I'm trivializing the what about ism, especially when the what about ism is incredibly vague.
But did you condemn Israel?
