I mean, sure, anything can be the cheapest when you either block or heavily tariff any outside competition.

Boo. They need to stop trying to make their own proprietary system, it’s not gonna happen.

There are some surprisingly decent aftermarket options these days. Fast processors, big screens. I almost considered one because my recent car's processors are fucking awful, especially compared to my last car.

Dealbreaker for me. Such a shame because I’m in the market for a small hatchback-like EV, being a sonic owner and all.

I don't think it's a complete deal breaker if the company can be trusted to make decent software (Tesla, Rivian?) but for companies like GM and VW...

I have a Tesla. Their software sucks, and has gotten consistently worse over the years.

Probably because Apple requires them to use specific hardware and then has to approve it. As per usual, Apple wants to control everything.

Android Auto works fine.

It's very stupid but there are AA/Carplay devices you can install to get them back.

That's because the 2024 model will lose 80% of its value after the first year.

They can say this because they lobbied for 100% tariffs.

They are confident that the massively overpriced vehicles they are making, that have an order of magnitude less parts on the bill of materials, are funding their lobbyists and political bribery machine to prevent any chance of open market capitalism.

Not real surprising, as I understand, all their electric vehicles are basically variants on the same vehicle, whether you're talking a BrightDrop van, Silverado electric, Equinox EV or the upcoming Bolt, economies of scale and all that.

Not so much same vehicle (although they already do share several other parts), but variations of the same power train platform.
Ultium is battery packs that can be arranged in various ways, a handful of mostly similar electric motors, and some control modules and whatnots. The configurations can be vastly different.

And that is pretty much exactly what you meant, so I may have been a bit pedantic.

What's the difference between pedantic and accurate? Mine was good enough, and yours was accurate.

I really want a Chevy Bolt because it's a compact EV which is perfect for the streets of LA but damn are they making it so hard when they want to farm and sell every piece of data they can from you.
