Please don't post about US Politics.
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Fear the shorter or regret.
I'm short, fear me.
Live in spite of everything.
"Don't stop dreaming, because the world is full of people who've stopped dreaming."
Probably no one said that, it's just what reminds me on so many things at once. It's so full of hope, confidence, happiness, interest into new things, overcoming obstacles, the future, laying off the monotone, enjoyment, pushing yourself further. I could interpret and fill so much into this. It also has a little bit of superiority in it, but that's because I often suffer under the negative Nancys and people who have given up, who try their best to drag you down.
When I die, I hope to be surprised. It’s Oscar Wilde.
If it aint broke don't break it.
"Some days are just like that"
"Too much force will break it." The only thing worthwhile my mother taught me.
This is a general good thing to live by. Relationships, pooping opening Windows
If it's not going to matter on your deathbed it doesn't really matter.
Always be prepared to be unprepared.
Be the change you want in the world.
"And there's a funny thing about honesty; there's no two ways about it."
This quote from Lassie Come-Home comes up whenever I'm not sure if I should be honest about something bad that I've done. It's a pretty good motto.
That, and "Smile, tomorrow will be worse."
Any man can grab a tiger by it's balls, but it takes a real man to squeeze.
Don't craft a well thought out response to someone John Brown would have shot [absolutely necessary for getting through the internet] and don't give two weeks notice to a job that makes you miserable [absolutely necessary for leaving a shitty work situation].
"If you don't want life you fuck you, be a dick, not an asshole" /J
I don't actually have a life motto, but I do like hearing other people's. I'll find one that jives with me eventually, till then I survive.
"You can't find the truth, you pick the lie you like best."
What's wrong with "I don't know"?
"you can fix dumb, but you can't fix lazy"
If you don't know, I can teach you. If you just don't want to learn, well that's a different story
In your deathbed you'll regret more the things you didn't do than what you did
Take it sleazy! Maximum effort all the time has only ever gotten me exhausted and useless. Save your strength for when you need it.
(at least, that works for me)
So no more running. I aim to misbehave.
Don't get paid in promises.
No murders. Everything else you can apologize for.
"I'm just a monkey lookin' at a monolith." said in the strong southern drawl possible.
Very good for technical situations where I'm stumped.
Keep on keepin' on...
