Borrowed a canoe from a friend and canoed across a lake to camp. It was fun, hiked up to explore some more lakes from our camp. The dog didn't love the canoe, but did fine. The water was some of the clearest I've ever seen, will be returning to do some freediving. I do think I still prefer backpacking over canoe-camping. We rowed just over 2 miles to get to camp.

It looks like you're going with your significant other AND your wife.

PS: I miss my dog.

Canoe camping is great. You can pack tons of stuff inside a canoe without issue.

Yeah we felt very blinged out! Hammocks, the big tent, and a camp stove. And the canoe had a ton of empty space left

I'm totally needy, pack the kitchen sink. We have the same size as OPs and carry all sorts of ridiculous stuff. Camp table, chairs, umbrellas, string lights, battery chainsaw? Why not? Throw a 60qt. cooler in there and I've got beer, drinks and ice for days, plus a nice seat! Hell, tow a kayak behind for playing once you're set up.

My 1st time camping was canoe camping. I asked where do we go to the bathroom and they handed me a shovel.

That looks marvelous! Nice trip, and nice shot. Did you try any fishing?

We didn't but the water was clear enough to see the fish. Could probably see 15 feet down. I 100% will be going back to go freediving

We have almost the same boat! Pro tip: Strap on a trolling motor and a get a lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4, not lithium ion). You can cruise forever!
