So... a couple of tomahawk missiles and a container of uniforms. Taiwan secured.

Imagine instead of complete surrender the confederacy retreated and held Texas, and China was selling them advanced weaponry. That’s what this is
This is like if the Confederacy retreated to Catalina Island, massacred everyone there, and continued calling itself the rightful government of the entire continent afterward.
Money should go towards the poor and not the capitalist war machine.
“Think of how many jobs building an aircraft carrier provides.” -An actual dog brained take, said to me IRL
I hate to quote fucking Eisenhower but even broken clocks etc etc...
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter with a half-million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. . . . This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.
Even he was warning us about the MIC, and now people say "what about those employed making bombers? Surely that's the only job they're capable of! What else would they do?"
mfw they close down the dog-kicking factory, destroying thousands of honest jobs
:deeper-sadness:
I've heard similar takes from those drooling boomers also. Think about all the jobs making missiles for war create! Not as many as you'd think old boomer guy.
the MiC is no joke the only properly funded welfare program in the country. it's just welfare for consultants and PMC instead of like you know, people who need the money.
I got into an argument with a guy on Reddit because he kept insisting that Taiwan was a sovereign nation and I kept telling him that Taiwan does not view Taiwan as a sovereign nation. At one point he asked me if we sold weapons to China and when I said definitionally yes he lost his shit.

lemmitors: "if you're not anti-MIC at 15 you have no heart, but if you're not pro-MIC at 25 you have no brain"
Interesting paraphrase of the famous Churchill nonsense, which should give some of so called "leftists" here a pause, but alas, they only press the down arrow.

Democracies all over the world are ready to fight to the last Taiwanese child soldier!
Bad
Edit: for all of the people praising “Taiwanese independence”, read this. Also, status quo is not “static” quo; we exist in the status quo where people are under the illusion of capitalism, of the propaganda of the capitalists and in this case of the US, which is continually provoking separatism, and which originally backed the KMT (for the continuation of semi-colonialism/feudalism) from which separatism stems (with the KMT performing numerous massacres against opposition); the visage of Chiang Kai-shek sits on physical Taiwan currency. Still, "臺灣民眾統獨立場趨勢分佈", conducted by Taiwan's National Chengchi University, an explicitly anti-CPC source, in 2022, showed the following results with regards to the perspective of Taiwanese citizens on independence and reunification: (Status Quo as Autonomous Part of China and Complete Unification Compiled [part of PRC] : 63.4%) (General Support for Independence Including Status Quo Moving Towards Independence [not part of PRC]: 30.3%) (Non-Response: 6.3%). Here we can see that in public opinion, remaining a part of the PRC has over double the support to becoming independent or pursuing independence at a later date, although support for total reunification is low, hence the policy of two systems being maintained to an even greater extent than with regards to Hong Kong, although accusations of military provocations by the mainland of China are alleged despite there being no examples of this.
