United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in [email protected] or [email protected]
More serious politics should go in [email protected].
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
She was 89 and no doubt lead a truly fulfilling life, and so I think objectively it's not a sad passing - she had a truly remarkable life and long life.
That said, she was a significant part of my childhood, and always on the television in the various households I've lived in for one show or another. It feels like losing a beloved grandmother, and I'm devastated. RIP Maggie.
She was one of the people I mentally considered immortal. She has been 'old' my entire life.
Good innings, Maggie, fly high. 🫡 Think I first saw her in Hook as a child
I am saddened immensely
Damn. I thought she was one of the immortal ones.
That's a shame. Although living in that van all those years probably didn't help.
😭
Sad to say goodbye but she'll live forever in her performances and she had a good life. Coolest cat ever.
Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is probably what I'll remember her best for
