So I've been a professional DJ going on 25 years, and I've been spinning City Pop for about 5-6 years now in the SF bay area. And I just have to say, it's been really pleasant watching the general populace of the Western world go from hearing this music and scratching their heads in confusion, to hearing it and getting as excited as we fans do about it!

I've been gently working it into my sets at various venues, from bars to restaurants all over the bay area, and only in the past year have I noticed a whole new interest in it. People will run up and want to know what that cool song was? People will sing along with some of the more popular tracks. These are people I'm pretty sure don't speak Japanese either. And I'm not talking about events like my party Tokyo '88, where we are specifically advertising City Pop. I just mean random venues, with random people attending!

I'm curious if you've noticed a new interest in your region too?

City Pop forever!
