Since people seem to have missed this one, unsealed in the Smith filing:

-Trump used a burner phone, routed through a foreign country to contact Michigan house speaker.

-He tried to pressure the speaker in this off book call.

-Speaker McCarthy knew about the burner phone line.

-The phone showed up as “Spam Risk Egypt” on caller ID.

That seems like a big deal. Proof that he knew this call was something he had to hide.

[–] [email protected] 91 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Regardless of how crooked and obvious of a big deal this is, absolutely nothing will be done about it. The time for consequence in America for politicians has passed.

It's maddeningly clear that there are powers in place green lighting a criminal enterprise.

If they succeed the future will ask "how the fuck did 320 million people stand by and let it happen?"

We didn't.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Aren't we kind of not doing anything though? Looking at somewhat recent events, the trump cult attempted an insurrection when things didn't go their way. I can't think of anything to that level on the opposite side.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

There's nothing we can do.

Those looking at it will say "he was a criminal why wasn't he behind bars?!"

Yeah, we all have been wondering the same thing. Protests, grassroots campaigns, and the SCOTUS is still green lighting fascism.

We could do things, but we don’t realize it. If Americans protested like the French (plus guns), the American government would be a lot more afraid of them.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Because the people getting fucked aren't the gun lovers.

Shout out liberal gun owners and socialistRA.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago

Well, Republican politicians.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

This is like sandy hook. When America let all those kids die without flinching, the moment had passed

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

I hope it hasn't, but recent facts show it has. :(

[–] [email protected] 47 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It better show how un-fucking-official of an act it was and prevent that bullshit president king immunity pass the scrotus gave him.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This shows that. If it were an official act, he would not feel the need to hide it.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

You know the shows that and I know this shows that but if you ask the scotus that he bought and paid for....

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

I think you missed the part where there is no justice for this traitor cunt.

[–] [email protected] 92 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Equally important - who set it up for him?

Not trying to be funny.

Oh, please. We all use burner phones routed through Egypt to call Michigan state legislators. It’s as American as Mexican food.

I am still waiting for the taco truck on every corner I was promised if Biden won in 2020

Come to northern Indiana

If he bounced it through a foreign telecom/IP network, the NSA has tapes. Lordy.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Even if he didn’t route it through a foreign country, I’m sure they have it. I’m sure they have tons of intel on him. Why they stand by and do nothing with it? We may never know.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Because NSA is defense. what you want is judicial, which is the FBI.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

“They” being the government. Should’ve said that before.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I would be willing to wager they have the voice transcripts of every call made in the last ten years

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m sure of it. Yet he remains a free man, openly conspiring against the country, committing crimes and plotting treason. But anyone who’s capable of doing something about is either in on it, or seemingly unconcerned.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

We know the nsa basically has the whole internet downloaded from Snowden leaks. We know they have all the metadata. I assume they also have transcripts if not actual recordings of every call made anywhere starting from the time they had data centers capable of holding that much storage

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm waiting with bated breath for this to be picked up by a more neutral source so I can boost the shit out of this without being dismissible.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Or you could, you know, look directly at the primary source material helpfully excerpted and screen capped for you right in the Tweet...

Meh. Too much work, hopefully someone else has 15 seconds and enough energy to do it so you can "boost" it.

If this isn't an emblem for the state of society right now, I don't know what is.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Plot twist: his phone died and he and to borrow Bob Menendez's phone

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Exactly. A burner phone for him is someone else's, and they never get it back.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago

Impact this will have on his supporters: 0

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Word on the street is he got it from this guy—

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How did he prove he was actually himself? Seems like anyone could have done it with a bit of AI.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This was before AI of that quality was accessible.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fair enough, but a decent actor could probably work as well.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or a third grade actor like Trump?

There is, after all, all the witness testimony from his side of the call.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

I understand we have all the proof now, but back then, how can someone get intimidated by a call that could easily be fake.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

doubt trump did the connection himself but do believe he would use it
