I think these work out better in a pot with multiple layers. But they do look tasty.
They worked out perfectly fine in a single layer. Not sure what the difference would be?

Both. In fact a mix that one might use for a meatball is excellent. Beef, veal, and pork spiced with some rice as a breadcrumb kinda thing.
We made traditional polish style which is a mixture of both.
