I keep hearing my friends complain about the status of the servers. I'm just still dumbfounded that people heard it was essentially online single player and bought this anyway.

They killed Warcraft III They killed Overwatch

Why is blizzard going to pick up the ball on D4? Genuine question, no hate.

Playing about 6 hours a day for two week since release, and after that about 1-2 hours a day I’ve experienced no server issues. The only exception was this past weekend ddos.
This game is phenomenal, with yesterday’s patch became even better, I like multiplayer aspect and just randomly doing some event with a bunch of ppl instead of being on my lonesome.

Why are ppl so insistent on hating on this game is beyond me. Overwatch complaints at least have some merit

Developers continue to find more toxic and malicious ways to take their money, but gamers... gamers never learn.

Simply put, because Blizzard still makes great games. I had a blast with Dragonflight. I'm currently having a blast with Diablo4.

I've had very few connectivity issues with D4, even at launch, the game has been smooth as butter. Yeah, I wasn't able to login for a bit recently, but it wasn't much of a bother.

I bought D4 because I had bonus points that could be converted into PayPal, so it cost me nothing.

I've been playing it pretty casually and I must say I'm not very impressed. I think D3 is better.

I believe it has a lot of potential but it shouldn't be a $70 to $100 game with a battlepass and mtx.

You should give D2 resurrected a try if you still have points

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I will look into it. My wife played a lot of the original D2 and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Did they do it justice or did they butcher it like WC3?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

From what I've played from D2R it's actually great and they did it justice. That's from someone who loved Blizzard in the days of D2 and StarCraft originals and has avoided Blizzard since, except for giving D3 a try and hating it.

Play D2R. It's worth it.

D3 was terrible at launch and turned into a great game. Dragonflight in wow is a great xpac.

Like all companies blizzard has it's down sides and good sides. Historically except for immortal, diablo always turns out ok.

I'm enjoying diablo 4. D4 is not made for power gamers. It's made for dads and moms who are now in their 40s and have kids. Most of us aren't even in t3 yet. Hell a few weeks ago only a small percent actually completed the campaign! For us the game is great. It will get good for the hardcores soon.

D4 also is a game made to play alongside other games. It's not made to be the only game you play. And I like that a lot.

I played a ton of Diablo 2. It’s one of my favourite game of all times. But it’s a old game where the fun lies in dying in hardcore and having all your friends laughing about it at 2 am.

It’s hard to make people play a old game like Diablo 2, but D4 had the new and fresh feel into it that my friends needed to get back into sending demons back to hell.

I just want to play with my friends, like we did as kids.

I haven't 😁

If some way to pirate it becomes available I'll certainly do that, but no matter how good it might be, or even if they address the stupid forced online bullshit, i fully intend to never again pay for a blizzard product.

I'll be fair and admit that Blizzard still makes great games, but their monetization model and business practices are some of the vilest in the history of gaming, and I will no longer support them because of this.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Diablo IV is actually cheaper than Diablo II was if you consider inflation. No idea what everyone is on about. Even Nintendo 64 games cost just a little bit less than what Diablo IV was priced on launch. And when did the N64 release? Game ain't as expensive as people make out.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

To be clear, there is no monetization in D4 except skins in game. This is the first blizzard game since D3 for me, so I'm having a blast.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

The game looked fun and I knew the servers would get fixed eventually. I just waited two weeks before purchasing the game.

Honestly, I haven't regretted it and it's the most fun in a game I've had in a long time.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Peer pressure, everyone I know was playing D4 and asking me constantly when I was going to get it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I was pretty happy with it, the forced online bit was kind of annoying but group content is actually fun, and i already had friends who would be buying it so i had a built in group

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

@Zuberi. Beyond the DDOS attack there other day I've only seen a bit of lag once or twice, no disconnects. Maybe I'm playing at less busy times. I do wish it had an offline mode but so far it's not caused much trouble for me. As for why....I had been talking about it coming up with some friends and my wife asked what I was talking about. A few days later she surprised me with it as a gift.

While I know little about other Blizzard games besides Heroes of the Storm which I played this shit out of, they really haven't dropped the ball on either of the other 3 titles. Even D1 has kept the P2P system active for those who still want to play. This game is great and worth every penny I've spent on it.

EDIT: I thought the title said "not buy". Oops. Oh well, leaving my comment anyways.

Because fuck Blizzard, that's why!

My last straw was when they caved to China and took the tournament dude's winnings back in 2019.

Honestly... My friend bought Diablo 4 and I like playing video games with them.

I would have passed on it otherwise.

Here it is running on a private server. A lot of people have been complaining but I haven't had much problem and it's still in beta anyways. Free is free.

I think you can get that price down creatively is what he's saying

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with it after a few days of server patching right at wide release.

I’m a casual player and just hit level 50. Haven’t completed the main scenario yet, but I feel I’ve got my moneys worth so far.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I have a lvl 60 and a lvl 30 character and have never waited for more than 1 min to get in , have never had a disconnect or a crash. The only issue was that one night this past week when they had some issues. So in short it's been great. Playing on Series x.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

I didn't play Warcraft III or Overwatch so those didn't bother me.

I've played every Diablo and enjoyed them all immensely. So far I'm having a blast with D4. It's overpriced but that's the price you pay to be an early adopter. I bought the "cheap" version because I have no interest in the season content or cosmetics. Frankly this is a $30-$40 game but I wanted it now.

Sometimes what a game offers in gameplay or story is enough to get me to play a game even though it's an online single player game, like Genshin Impact. For other people it's games like Diablo 4. It's not necessarily a deal breaker for everyone as long as the servers are stable. It's not like a blizzard is some small company, they should be able to release a game with stable servers at launch.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The severs have been great , they’ve been down for just a couple hours since release.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

Because with some leftover credit I had in the eShop I got Diablo II Resurrected for $10 on the Switch, and that seemed to be a good deal. One day, many years from now when I'm finally done with Tears of the Kingdom, I might actually play it.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The status of the server is actually pretty insane. Even up when the are doing some bigger patches. Haven't once waited, but could be lucky eu time zone.

So Blizzard is going to pick up the ball because lately they do. WoW is pretty great this time around. Warcraft 3 was dead in arrival tbh due to it being an RTS.

Overwatch I don't know, think they don't know where to head with this game from the very beginning.

D1 was good, d2, d3 bad start but got better over time, d2r seemed pretty good as well.

Now with d4 looking better than d3 from the very start I think it's save to say you'll most likely not get disappointed if you like the franchise, genre/ gameplay loop.
