From the latest episode I really started to appreciate Wesley's Kirk. Watching this just affirmed it. He's a TOS fan, is purposeful in not impersonating Shatner, and knows what he's doing in playing alt-timeline and/or a younger Kirk. Really sold on this character.

I feel bad about all the mean things I said in my own head about Paul Wesley as Kirk. I was deeply incorrect.

I couldn't agree more! I didn't care much for him last season — not as James Kirk, y'know? He was a likable enough character, I guess, but he wasn't KIRK. That changed in S02E03, though. We got a glimpse of the charm, the humour, and the bravado that make Kirk so distinct, and now I'm digging him a lot.
Paul Wesley was not the person I expected to hear from on this week's Ready Room after that incredible performance by Christina Chong.
Shut up Wesley!
