Hi guys! I'm overthinking to hire ente.io services to my photos. I know that there are self hosted services but I don't have any computer to do that only. Any thoughts about ente.io?

Been with ente for a year. Outstanding app.

They're great! Their support is super responsive, I once complainted about a bug only to have it get fixed the other day (though don't expect it to be the case for every problem, they will still respond).

Their apps work great, they've got a great selection of features, memories, hide photos, photos map (see where you took your photos on a map, if location is enabled, an amazing feature), share albums and have the option for users and non ente users to add photos, and there's more.

All of that with e2ee.

Been a customer for at least a year now, and I'm really happy with my subscription.

Do you know if there is an option to have the app notify you on the memories for the day? I actually kinda liked it on google photos

Don't see an option for it in the Notifications setting, asked in their Matrix. There's just an option to turn memories off or on atm.

There's also a feature request forum, perhaps someone asked for it there already if it's not a thing

Guess I will look into that!

Awesome to hear, thanks for updating me!

IMO crypt.ee is better. Yes cryptee does not have auto upload and also no native apps but they progressive web app is awesome. They are recommended by privacyguides. On privacyguides's github you can also read why they don't recommend ente.io

PrivacyGuides approved ente.io here: https://discuss.privacyguides.net/t/ente-photo-management/11763/5

As someone who has used both crypt.ee and ente.io I would never go back to using crypt.ee for photo management. Between the constant issues with their PWA not uploading HDR and motion photos, to crashes during the manual upload process, the incredibly small file size limits (I believe its 500MB?), and the lack of ability to properly share photos or storage with family makes the solution a deal breaker for me.

Ente.io has very close feature parity to something like Google Photos but with E2EE. I would highly recommend their solution over crypt.ee to anyone looking to do more than just store a few personal photos.

They add a RAW support and a few more features recently, so I believe adding support for HDR and more is a matter of time. But good to know that ente.io is now approved by privacyguides.

However, the information given is not by the Privacy Guides page itself and the stickied comment by one of the sub's mods says the following:

"Mod Note: Much of what was published in this thread is misinformation, and not accurate.

Ente has been audited: https://ente.io/blog/cryptography-audit/ and the company operates from the US now."

I feel like this is not really a reliable source then and we are not any wiser...
