I'm starting to see why America hasn't won a war in like 100 years.

It's pretty embarrassing when you starve your people just to have the world's most expensive army... only to constantly lose. Lmao.

damn they just lower cased my ethnicity

[–] [email protected] 46 points 1 year ago

your ethnicity was already lowercase in my other native language, as are all ethnicities. soon we will be freed from the shackles of capital(ist) letters for good, comrade! have we learned nothing from toki pona? from palawa kani? from some third language i'm unfamiliar with, whose orthography only makes use of lowercase latin letters? we don't want uppercase, we don't need uppercase. all that capital letters do is force children to learn a second set of letters that do all the same shit as the first set but are used less often. what type of garbage is that!

Damn they just lower cased the ketchup salad dressing

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Damn they just lower cased one of the worst "salads" to ever exist.

The royal academy of the Spanish language has always been run by the most reactionary, petty and self-important aristocratic geezers, as the name suggests, and considering Spain's history, they're VERY reactionary, petty and self-important.

Not even they do this kinda bs. This is clown shoes.

Also, if it's the Ukrainian spelling shouldn't it be in cyrillic?

[–] [email protected] 53 points 1 year ago

They’re preparing for the romanization of Ukrainian language so they can get rid of all ruzzian influenza

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 year ago

Not when its geared to a Western English-speaking audience.

I have to imagine that academy gets its knickers in a bunch frequently with regards to regional variants of Spanish in the Americas.

is the implication supposed to be that Russia, the country, does not exist?

[–] [email protected] 53 points 1 year ago

This radiates serious loser energy.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Reminds me of tRump. Which I always thought was caused by lead exposure but it's apparently some dumb joke genX likes (probably due to all the lead exposure).

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 year ago

Honestly "trump" is already Br*tish for "fart" so they literally could've left the name as it was and it still would've been a joke

I’d honestly have more respect for Ukraine if they officially made this the new name for Sussia

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 year ago

Now all we need is for Zelensky to accuse Putin of venting

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

so-far I'd have more respect for the Ukraine.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 year ago

least childish Ukraine supporter

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Propaganda used to be beautiful, dramatic, or horrifying paintings of war, military, and ideology. Now it’s just 240p edits of squished dogs in adidas outfits, getting mad when someone says “the Ukraine” or “Kiev,” and lowercasing countries’ names

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago

It's only acceptable to get mad at someone for writing "the Ukraine" when it's in German and for a full-chest tattoo

The chapter where Sun Tzu stresses the importance of being insufferably and arbitrarily pedantic online is my favorite chapter in The Art of War.

The true solution to the Kyiv vs Kiev spelling debate is to spell the city's name as Qxuieghyiefvwue. It's the only way.

~~Russia~~ russia is finished

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago

So the ukies' previous attempt at owning Putler by calling the country "Muscovy" instead of Russia didn't catch on?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago

I am once again reminded of the scene in Barefoot Gen where the Japanese public is instructed to step on caricatures of Churchill and Roosevelt painted on the sidewalk and the dad thinks the whole thing is pathetic
