So no one warned you FRIENDS was gonna be this way

The vibes are bad, so sad, the jokes are anti-gay

I watched (not re-watched--I've literally never seen the series) Friends back in 2016 and even back then I could see every joke coming a mile away

It's just a shitty white copy of Living Single

michael-laugh perfect!

I'm suprised people still talk about this show

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Even as a teen I found it incredibly sus that Friends takes place in one of the most diverse places on earth and there isn't a single PoC main character.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Have you tried laughing along with the laugh track?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

why didn't Ross eat the others?

Friends is just the 90s version of the big bang theory change my mind

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What were bazinga amerikans called before the big bang?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Apparently metrosexual was a thing? But they was for guys that actually washed their clothes and ass. Not really a Bazinga type person.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I was a "metro" back then according to some people... not sure that's what they evolved into...

I can relate to this for a lot of shows, it might be that I'm autistic but a lot of humor hits differently or not at all for me. I find different things funny to other people.

Once my old roommate was like "hey you should watch the office, it's so funny" and then he put on an episode while I was cooking and made that face the entire time. He didn't laugh once and neither did I. I hate the office so much it's not funny at all

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It happened the same to me but with Rick & Morty

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I was introduced to Rick and Morty multiple times over several years by well meaning friends, usually from "this clip will hook you for sure!" moments, and those moments ranged from making me unhappy, to disgusted, to questioning whether I wanted to still be friends with the person after that.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I probably won't rewatch the office, but I found it funny and I keep up on Rick and Morty, though I just find it entertaining and not really funny besides a few fucked up nihilistic one liners. This is how I know I still have some chud linked neurons firing around someplace in my soy cucked brain.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I only watched through season 2 but I found the episode where Rick meets up with the hive mind and ends up attempting to delete himself to be legitimately pretty good. It does a great job of conveying that Rick who is so intelligent he could have anything he wants is left feeling empty by his hedonistic lifestyle and self aware enough to know it but too nihilistic to do anything about it. Same reason I liked Bojack, I guess.

But then people started putting pickle rick memes all over everything and I never went back to it

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Ironically, the pickle rick episode itself is pretty good. Being a pickle is an allegory for alcoholism and Rick attends therapy

The Office is one of the primordial spirits of Reddit that possesses Redditors when they post terrible takes.

One time I watched Friends while high, and I getting freaked out thinking I broke my brain because I couldn't understand the jokes. There would be laugh track after laugh track and I was just like, why??? I don't get it!!!! What is happening to me??

And then I saw it again while sober and was like oh, it's actually not funny, I was fine.

FYI, posting Discord links with ?ex in the middle will expire at some point, so in future you should copy/save the image and reupload to Hexbear so the post is preserved for future viewers.

honestly the only modern US sitcom i truly despise is two and a half men but i've never met anyone who likes that show so i wouldn't call it overrated.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

There were a handful of funny moments in 2.5 Men, which is more than Bazinga or FRIENDS

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I had an ex who made me watch Grey's Anatomy a lot alongside Two and a Half Men. Those were bad times. burgerpain

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I liked it, but I enjoyed specifically the level of Flanderization that turned everyone into another Charlie Sheen. Basically like Always Sunny, but way worse in every way. Suuuper transphobic, too.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I tried watching Friends but all I saw were enemies.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I have a soft spot for friends since it was the first american sitcom I watched but I will propably never rewatch it

On the other hand I hated Seinfeld as a teen and now I am a Larry David character
