Part of me was truly hoping Apple would step in and offer to host a lemmy instance like lemmy.apple and then we could build Apple specific communities from there. But after the death of Ping... I think Apple and "social" platforms are a thing of the past.

I don't see many major company like apple hosting a mastodon or Lemmy outside of official PR announcements (mastodon). Just too much liability for them.

On the other hand, I'm always looking for how to expand my HomeKit ecosystem. I've been waiting for Matter to matter so that my node-red instance can control native HomeKit devices

I think that would be awesome, but also absolutely 0 chance of ever occurring. Apple will never do anything like that, but if they were to, it would be on their own software and not a Lemmy site.
