Your shot is great too! We were surprised at how few tourist there were in May

Great shot! I've only ever been to San Francisco once (I'm from Europe). Me and my dad were there for 4 days, and the whole time the bridge was completely enveloped in fog.

This is the best I could get.

This is a really solid shot. Its hard not to love pictures of this bridge.

You didn't ask for it, but here is some criticism:

  1. The framing is slightly off. The view second tower is slightly obstructed in an unpleasing way
  2. The color is a bit flat, I feel color is of the highest importance with this specific landmark
  3. The scaffolding at the bottom left feels like an afterthought. Maybe include more or less of it to tell a story about the bridges current state.
  4. The sky is kinda boring. Try adding more color to make the blue pop. Alternatively, wait till sunset to get that gold to pop.

Please take more pictures. You have an eye for it so keep pushing forward. Share more!

....testing something I saw in another thread, don't mind me ..

@[email protected] tell me about the Golden Gate Bridge.

Edit. Huh. Well there you go.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic suspension bridge located in San Francisco, California. It spans the Golden Gate Strait, the entrance to the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean.

Construction of the bridge began in 1933 and was completed in 1937, making it one of the most recognized landmarks in California. It was designed by engineer Joseph Strauss and architect Irving Morrow. At the time of its completion, it was the longest and tallest suspension bridge in the world, with a main span of 4,200 feet (1,280 meters) and a total height of 746 feet (227 meters).

The bridge is named after the Golden Gate Strait, which was named by American explorer John C. Frémont in 1846. The "golden gate" refers to the strait's resemblance to a golden gateway to the American West.

The Golden Gate Bridge is renowned for its distinctive orange-red color, officially known as International Orange. It has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and the United States as a whole. The bridge serves as both a major transportation route and a popular tourist attraction, offering stunning views of the city's skyline, Alcatraz Island, and the Pacific Ocean.

That is very cool! :D let me try as well and answer a question that came up.

@[email protected] tell me the purpose of the scaffolding on the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

The purpose of the scaffolding on the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge is usually for maintenance and repair work. The bridge undergoes regular inspections and maintenance to ensure its structural integrity and safety. The scaffolding provides a stable platform for workers to access different parts of the bridge and carry out necessary repairs or painting. It helps them safely reach areas that are otherwise difficult to access, such as the towers or the underside of the bridge. The scaffolding is temporary and is typically removed once the maintenance work is completed.

The Golden Gate is the name of the strait the bridge spans, and has nothing to do with the color of the bridge, which is called International Orange.

All these California pics are making me want to live there even more.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Fantastic! I love the perspective and framing.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yes you did!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Amazing picture!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What is the purpose of all the scaffolding?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

They’re putting in suicide nets to save jumpers… it should be finished some time this year.

[–] calhoon2005 1 points 1 year ago

Great shot. This angle conveys how ridiculously big that bridge is a lot better than a wide shot. The traffic heading off into the distance gives you the scale very effectively.
