Grew up in Victoria but now live in NSW. Still trying to work this whole thing out so this is kind of like my test post I guess.

Appears like a lot of the markdown doesn't work in the official app

Hopefully things improve because the spoiler tag not working in particular is kind of disappointing.

Looking good in the browser though

I hadn't noticed, haven't used Jerboa much.

I really like how comments and stuff just appear without having to refresh the page, looks cool.

I'm liking it... time will tell if it all implodes on Monday :)

[–] Robust_Mirror 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why could that be? Very out of the loop on everything.

Reddit 48 hour blackout starts on Monday, in protest to the API changes they've proposed that will effectively kill off third party apps.

[–] Robust_Mirror 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh right. Sorry I knew about the blackout but didn't know when it was and didn't put it together. And yeah API change is exactly why I'm here.

How do the different servers work if you don't mind me asking? Like if I go to beehaw.org I don't think I have to make another account, right? But I can't figure out how to log in using this one.

You can participate in communities from other instances by clicking "all" in the communities section at the top of the page. If there is a remote community not listed, search for it by its full URL and it should show up after 10 seconds or so.

And no, you don't need to create accounts on each instance :)

[–] Robust_Mirror 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh that's cool, thanks for your help.

What happens to my account if this instance is deleted?

[–] lodion 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hmm I'm not entirely sure. I've not tested that.

[–] Robust_Mirror 1 points 1 year ago

No problem. I've tried searching around but haven't had any luck in finding an answer. Thanks for all your help either way.

Is there a way to search for communities? I've subscribed to a handful just by spotting them on the "all" tab, but how would I find one without navigating through a post?

Perhaps thes functionality is not yet included in Jerboa, which is fair enough too.

[–] lodion 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sorry, not so familiar with Jerboa. On the web app you can search aussie.zone for the full URL of the community on the other instance. After 10 seconds or so it should show up on the All tab.

Thanks! I managed to work that out about half an hour ago. Sure enough, you've got to go through the browser for now, but these things will only improve with time.

Might be pros and cons to that. If you're halfway looking through a nice big long juicy thread, I'd hate if it refreshes and I'm suddenly somewhere random.

Welcome :)

Check out the markdown guide linked with the question mark icon below the text box.

Thanks yeah it all works fine in the browser just the Android app doesn't seem to be recognising some of it.
