A really really small gripe, but reddit is like one of the go-to places for support. Even the megathread isn't as usable as it used to be without it. I still wanna keep the protest going. That being said, if the sub was reopened in restricted mode, so that users could only view existing posts and not post or comment, I don't think anyone would complain

fuck reddit fuck spez and don't open the subreddit. if you absolutely must have something from the sub ask the mods to get it for you

edit i just wanna mention, if you don't realise how bad the bot problem is, and how much worse it is going to get now that ai is taking over, then i think you really need to pay attention

You're still giving Reddit the Search engine traffic.

I definitely get that, but there were fixes posted in reddit that just aren't able to be found anywhere else. I feel like just shutting down the sub all together and throwing that all away would be a massive waste.

I agree. That data needs to be migrated to Lemmy.

I think it would be better to open it for just a few minutes to save all the useful posts and then save them on some cloud, most info is just text, it would be easy to store.

Copy it all out and post it here.

I would definitely be down for that, I just wanna access some minor fixes that I know were in the original sub

Can a script be written to scrape all that from cached posts? Google has a lot of it cached and I’m guessing the Internet archive might as well.

I think it would work if the sub was scraped in its entirety and then just permenantly closed. The scraped data can then just be linked on the megathread here or smth
