I don't know... That's kind of a stretch.

Fantastic joke

Really tired of seeing the same actors cast over and over and over. Pascal is talented, but does he have to be the Mandalorian and Last of Us guy and a Marvel superhero?

Say what you will about casting choices but Pedro is far more talented than Pratt

[–] [email protected] 9 points 11 months ago (3 children)

But, Pratt made a great Starlord.

Pratt is busy voicing all the cartoon characters now. So Mario and Garfield are going to sound suspiciously similar.

Isn't the point of voice acting that they ... don't sound the same?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Not really. The point of voice acting is conveying emotions and situations of a character through speach. Just like in live action, you can have actors-chameleons and actors who are always the same and always good when cast appropriately.

Ehhh, not to anyone paying attention to the comics before the guardians movies came out.

But that cna be said about most MCU characters / actors.

I’ve been reading Guardians comics since before there was a Peter Quill. Yes, Pratt’s incarnation is more comedic, and his origin is quite different, but he’s very much an emotionally driven character in both. Obviously James Gunn took a far more comedic approach to the overall tone, but Pratt fits the tone of the director and the team in a way that works for the screen.

Or Chris Evans:

Fantastic Four (Johnny Storm)
TMNT (Casey Jones)
Fantastic Four Silver Surfer (Johnny Storm)
(Push) - Nick Gant (became a comic later)
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (Lucas Lee)
Captain America (Captain America)
Avengers (Captain America)
Snowpiercer (Curtis)
Thor: Dark World (Loki as Captain America)
Winter Soldier (Captain America)
Age of Ultron (Captain America)
Ant Man (Captain America)
Civil War (Captain America)
Spider-Man: Homecoming (Captain America)
Avengers: Infinity War (Captain America)
Captain Marvel (Captain America)
Avengers: Endgame (Captain America)
Free Guy (Chris Evans)

I mean, how many of those happened at the same time?

Most of them are his Marvel Character as well.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Ridiculous. They just refuse to cast anyone else as Captain America.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Well, at this point, they have written him out. Old Man Steve got to go make his date in the 40s and lived happily ever after.

Though how the TVA went after Loki and not Steve escapes me.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

Still hoping Steve shows back up.

But yeah, that new timeline was supposed to happen. I think any timeline without a tyrannical Kang was considered fine. That's why some variance was okay. Most of the Lokis were taken after they strayed too far, not at the moment of divergence.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

And the villain in Wonder Woman '84...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

It's especially silly because people aren't going to avoid the movie if it's got a 'no name' cast.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah I wouldn’t mind him being a smaller hero, but he’s really busy already and that could affect Marvel stuff negatively.

I don't really see Pedro as Reed at all. But he's talented so I'm gonna trust that he can slide into the role.

The only thing is that I thought Reed would be younger

[–] [email protected] 16 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Is he sure about this? That franchise seems kind of cursed.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

And this one will likely be landing at a time of maximum super hero movie fatigue. Hope it succeeds though, would be cool to see a well received F4 movie.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, and it came to the MCU at a bad time too. Marvel movies are not much better after endgame.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Isn't the main reason for that the licensing, like I forgot which company had the license all those years but they only made movies to not lose the license since thats part of the agreement. Therefore all movies were made as a last ditch effort to keep the license. And they all sucked. With Marvel doing it, maybe slighlty better chance? I mean look at Spider-man.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I find this a strange choice, but I love Pedro and everyone seems to want him in everything so I’m not complaining.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 11 months ago (2 children)

This is pretty much how I feel. John Krasinski was a better fit for the Reed we know, but Pedro is so damn charming in everything he does. He even managed to uplift WW84 in my eyes.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I agree, ww84 was worth watching if only for his performance

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

Ww84 is good, but it can be better.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

I just don't think John Krasinski is a good actor. Outside of the office, he just comes off as a guy reading lines. It's a shame, because I loved The Office and A Quiet Place was great aside from his acting. But I'm kind of glad he didn't get the permanent role.

Also, IMO WW84 is worth watching 💯 only because of Pedro Pascal.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

How many reboots until we get a good one?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago
[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago

I hope he does the thickest, most "r"-rollingest Spanish accent possible for the role.

And then drop a line about how Scotty D. can eat the biggest turd sandwich ever.

Wow I was just listening to a podcast about the dismal fantastic four films so far, I'll be excited to see this

He has been tapped, but AFAICT not confirmed yet.

Something that I find interesting is that he is a superb parent/father character actor (I.e.: Joel and Mando), so a possible older Reed with Valeria and Franklin is a very interesting take.

It’s not confirmed yet
