So far, for me, liftoff and connect seems the most complete.

Thunder is the best, then connect.

I downloaded Thunder from Neostore but haven't tried it yet. I'm currently using Connect as my goto and enjoying the experience of the app and Lemmy so far.

Definitely give Thunder a try after customizing the settings (swipe section). Summit updated so I'll be using that today since gestures have been added. It's still snappier than the other apps.

I'm enjoying connect with AMOLED theme and smaller text and images. It's the most RIF feel I could find.

Connect. I was going to use boost, but it hasn't arrived, and I've been surprisingly happy with connect.

Joey for reddit was dropped and was looking for reddit replacement. Found this and using Connect. So far so good.

Jerboa is the only one I've used and it does the job.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I've switched between Liftoff, Jerboa and Connect and although I don't feel there is much between either of them in terms of features and functionality, I have settled on Connect. I came over from Reddit and was a big fan of Slide and Infinity fwiw.

  • maybe its just me but Jerboa and Liftoff regularly logged me out?!

I started with Jerboa because I browse in compact mode and it reminded me the most of Boost, but once I found Thunder there was just no going back. Very polished UI and the dev team has been on a roll with fixes and features. It's only on GitHub right now but it's pending review on the play store. Check it out even if you tried it a week or two ago - it's great and only getting better!

I normally use Thunder as my main client since it's smooth and is pretty customizable.

But I sometimes use Jerboa whenever a feature is missing

I want thunder to be better than it is right now. Thankfully the dev is working hard at it, but it's very slow to load, logs me out, and says it can't fetch my subscribed list of communities... Sigh. It looks so nice, too.

For now jerboa is nice

Bouncing between connect and jerboa

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Used to use boost and then switched to Joey back on Reddit. I tried Connect at first on Lemmy, but it just kept crashing any time I scrolled far down. Switched to Liftoff for a while but had some issues with the way it manages accounts and I kept seeing the same posts over and over. Now I'm on Jerboa and I've had no issues with accounts, memory, or it not being customizable enough.

I was waiting for Boost to release but ended up installing Connect and have been really happy with it. I'm probably going to stick with it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I've got jerboa, but typically I just use a web browser since the mobile experience is really good for most fediverse platforms, and when they're not it's an opportunity to improve them -- lotide had a terrible experience on mobile until I improved it on my site which then the dev used to create a whole new theme that worked way better on mobile.

Liftoff for now. It's the least buggy Android client I have come across. I definitely prefer Memmy on iOS though.

Connect, Jerboa, Voyager and Summit.

My favourite at the moment is Summit. It preloads images so feels snappier, and has a layout option of thumbnails on the right which I prefer.

I'd like to be able to turn off the swipe actions, my thumbs like to drift when I tap so that UX isn't optimal for me.~~ It's also not possible (that I've found) to change sort order.~~

I flick between apps, all the above are rapidly improving!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You can move the thumbnails to the right in Connect too.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yes, you're right! I should point out that the things I like about Summit are not exclusive to Summit!

I also noticed Connect is showing images faster than it used to.

It's great to have lots of options and compare them side by side. Coming from RIF, it's not hard to get comfortable.

I think Connect is the best one out right now. Most features, customization, and polish.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I tried Liftoff, Connect, and Jerboa, and settled on Jerboa.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I started on Jerboa. The instance I'm on stayed on 17.4, and Jerboa stopped working. Rather than downgrade Jerboa versions, I moved to Liftoff and couldn't be happier.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I've been bouncing back and forth between Connect and Summit.

Connect has more features though that I want and is currently in my number 1 spot. I tried all the others too so if I had to choose a #3, it would be WefWef/Voyager.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Any clients with built in video upload support?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I've tried both jerboa and liftoff. I kept having issues in posting and the apps thinking I wasn't signed in. Now uisng voyager and it's finally feeling good to scroll around and not a chore

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Still using the browser, I just like the look and feel of Lemdro.id but it seems to me that this is how most Lemmy instances look in any way I'll eventually switch to an app just not now
