Chuds on my discord group didn't get why this is an issue because "it's opt-in and gives streamers an opportunity to grow their audience and also product placement has been a thing since forever and platforms need to make money" as if exposure can pay your bills and Twitch doesn't have more money than god.
You should've countered with telling them that it looks like PepsiCo read that one greentext and took it as a challenge.
Incidentally I love the phrasing of that last point in the OP. "No, it isn't watching your stream, it's just looking for our product." Like how tf is it going to do that without watching the stream.

So they did an end-around the streamers chance at monetization in favor of paying twitch instead. If i wanted to stream for a living, why would i think this was a good trend to get behind?
Not to mention other companies would love to have data on who uses their products how. Can we expect ai crawling over every inch of video we create for data and monetization we will never benefit from?
