What’s weird is all the Reddit-alikes use custom code. Reddit code was open source until 2017.

Lemmy developers decided to have different features (yet similar to Reddit) so they could not use the source code from Reddit. Maybe they have reused part of the code ?
Many feature here are superior to Reddit if you ask me. Unfortunately the recent days are showing that some do not scale well.

I'll only look at Reddit without an account now. Lemmy might be a new place for me to interact with communities...However, I find Mastodon to be a lot better for engagement.
