Reminds me of Hans Island, where there was a longtime border dispute between Canada and Denmark over a tiny island off of Newfoundland. They would each take each other's flag and replace it with their own, as well as a well known alcoholic beverage from each country. It was also settled peacefully, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

what was the settlement?
They agreed to just split the island in half as the border, so now Canada and Denmark share a border.
They just kinda drew a line down the middle iirc
Mother earth said fuck yo dispute
This is exactly the plot of Terry Pratchett's "Jingo" Discworld novel...
Life uh… finds a way…
That might be the easiest way of a land issue being settled
Apparently it used to be 2500sq km based on US satellite. 1970 it emerged after a cyclone, 1974 US got the satellite measurement, 1985 it disappeared after a cyclone and 1989 to 1990 it was gone.
