I use my 3d printer sooo often to print templates for the router. A handheld router and a 3d printer are a combination made in heaven, I love it so much!

I've made a dino shaped kitchen helper tower for my two kids.
I've made a big 3D printed template for it and I still need to print the eyes and spine. It's a woodworking project full of 3D printing !

I’m not OP, but I would guess they cut out one dinosaur profile and wanted another to match. The copying guide allowed them to set the first cutout on top of another sheet of plywood and then trace around the template. You can see a sleeve around the router bit that would protect whatever the router is sitting on.
Yes, exactly that except that I made the first cutout on the 3D printer too.
I had to split it in 10 for it to fit on the printer bed but it gave me a very accurate template
