Oh shit! Me and by buddy used to play this often on pc back then. And the second and third. I actually installed it on my PC recently, but it was kind of choppy, sadly. This game was my first real foray into these types of games, which are my favorite. I remember the entire first game. My boy Diego.. what was the one out there group called? The sect or something lol.

Gothic is one of my favorite games and Polish dubbing is a masterpiece in itself. I replay it yearly so I'm already used to cumbersome input settings but I'm very curious about controller UI.

I hope the controls are good, I didn't realize it, but my tolerance for bad controls has gone down extremely. Recently tried to play Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and couldn't play ME:1. I may have kept playing if I had never played it before, but I already knew the narrative, and the controls just annoyed me too much to continue playing.
So, hope they have made the controls smooth. I should be able to handle the rest.
Gothic is one of the only series that I fully believe needs the remakes. Without some fixes put in from moddb, the games border on unplayable now because they've just aged REALLY poorly. Glad they have a list of shit they're fixing though
Well, there is a remake already in works.
And you are right, the game doesn't look too great, and I have heard from couple of people that it's aged very poorly (at least the PC version). I am still going to give this a try though. Just to check it out. Maybe all the fixes, with controls and UI updates have made it playable.
at least the pc version? There is only a PC version of Gothic and it's still completely playable, it's just not your modern role playing game so you have to get used to keyboard only controls...and few other quirks that made that game so "german"
I still think that the international version is lacking all the charme of the original german translation, which was and still is amazing and completely different than anything on the role playing genre...think of a grumpy geralt from the witcher but multiply it with a 1000 😂
I meant, with the Switch version releasing, I can't say that this one has dated badly too, maybe the fixes and updated controls and UI would make the game feel less dated. As for the PC version still being completely playable, I haven't tried it myself, but everyone have different tolerance level for older games, so it's possible some people enjoy it.
And all Piranha Byte games are like that, they have their "quirks". We may love them, but not everyone does. There's a reason there games didn't rank very critically. That said, I love their games, switch version of Risen is already on my wish list, but with Gothic arriving too, going to give it a try first.
As for the language, unfortunately I don't know German, so would have to play the version I can understand, but it sounds interesting.

Yeah, it's a very old game. I remember it was a bit janky even for it's time, but if you can past those, they are great games. Maybe wait for the remake.
