This is literally just an ad πŸ’€

Honestly don't buy this car. It's way overpriced for what it is (hardly classifiable as a car) and is tiny. I just like the design and wanted to share it. Also is a car and I don't like the concept of cars as a default mean of transport in general, but I appreciate the design choices.

That's cool. I'd recommend attaching something in the description next time you post something like this. Something that makes it clear it isn't an ad. On Lemmy, you're able to attach text to images very easily. I don't really mind, but I saw someone else mention this post in a different community and don't want you getting shat on for liking cars.

Damn I didn't know I was popular πŸ’€ thanks for the advice, will definitely do in the future since I was planning to start a series of posts like this one lol

I've unfortunately grown as a car guy in the purely aesthetic side of things and just can't stop appreciating clever designs when I see them

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

You are clearly our new micro-celebrity now

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Which makes me wonder if people don’t realize they are the ads

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What? Lmao oh like word-of-mouth? Not a huge consolation but I’d rather get advertised to like that than by a corpo ig.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

lol yeah I don't like marketing in any shape but like, I do ask people I trust for recommendations when I need to buy something and that kind of "advertising" I don't really have a problem with

On the other hand when someone posts something like this on social media, even if it's not intended as an ad it's just viral marketing whether the person posting about it knows it or not

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Like even with the new texts it's literally just an ad

engines are like roads

I just love this design so much idk why releases happy brain chemicals

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I saw one in person, and it made me irrationally happy

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Me too. I also love the microlino design, very similar but the front is the door. Reminds me of the quirky cars of the 1960s

Microlino

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Oh man that looks just like the car we all had as children! I love it!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I'm so in love with electric microcars I just can't get enough

The Microlino is a genius design but I personally prefer the Topolino because it actually looks like a shrinked car (though it looks like the Microlino has better specs), which is also why I prefer it to the CitroΓ«n Ami which it is based on

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

if you pay more can the rope be velvet?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

No but the standard version has standard doors if you like your miniature car not stolen

Bonus: there is no AC, so the Topolino comes with a small portable fan for when it gets hot

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

Cool car but it's a shame to waste the historical Topolino name on a rebadge

What's wrong with petrolheads/gearheads? Fuck cars but people driving them for fun is arguably the smallest part of the problem

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I don't target everyone that enjoys cars in general, mind that, I'm a car enjoyer myself.

I mostly refer to a series of behaviours that some (right-wing) petrolheads seem to have which are against progressive ideas, like different approaches to transportation that go against the idea of car-centric cities or the switch to electric engines in favor of 'muh engine sound'. That's why I specifically target petrolheads, and while I agree that drivers are a lesser problem, let's not forget that drivers are buyers.

But I realize I've done a lot of generalizing saying that so I will refrain from using the phrase again in future posts. My apologies.

It's cute and evil. Similar to cats or children

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I believe it’s an all-electric quadricycle, not a typical car. This is meant for people that live in urban environments with short daily commutes. I could see something like this being great for people who may not be physically able to ride a bicycle or navigate some less-accessible metro networks. It’s also significantly cheaper than most electric vehicles.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Correct, tho I think it's mainly targeted to people who already have a car but personally I would see small electric vehicles as a more ethical alternative to cars and a more comfortable alternative to bikes for daily commuting.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, Fiats are always in a weird spot, I don't really understand what their market is but it's cool. But I will never disrespect a cheap fully electric vehicle made for daily commuting. Pricewise, it would be really great in American towns and cities. I drive a Prius and gas is starting to get expensive even for me, and biking is not a viable option for where I live.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

The funny thing is the target aren't even Italian drivers: most cities are not suitable for electric vehicles with a severe lack of electric charger stands, and a lot of the market is dominated by big family cars. If you need a small car, you'd just buy a used Smart that is way cheaper than a new Topolino and in general the budget for a new car is not enough for a full electric. Lots of opinions from Italian drivers have already been against the model, especially since it's "just" a restyling of the Ami. So yeah I love the car, but the time and place are totally wrong: I imagine electric microcars being a thing in Italy once batteries become cheaper

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

imo bikes are more comfortable than cars (for short distances) and i will die on this hill

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

By more comfortable I just mean the option to transport more people and/or heavier luggage. Bikes are cool as hell but unfortunately have their limitations

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Looks a lot like the Citroen Ami (which I love driving).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It's actually based on the Ami! Basically just a restyling, just like the Opel Rocks Electric.
