I hope one day we’ll find a way to get banking apps working through Waydroid or something else. And by we, I mean people who are way more techy than me😅
I feel like it’s the only thing which would prevent a lot of people from using Linux every day on their phones.
Wouldn’t you just be able to create a folder for Xdrive (imaginary alternative to Google drive) in the Virtual Machine and another one in the host.
Since they are both synchronized with Xdrive they would have the same content.

How can you know how much life an SSD still has? Is it a command in the terminal on Linux? Haven’t found anything in the system information.
My Playstation 3 has had a dead battery for years. Except asking me for the date every time I turn it on and asking me to reconnect to the PSN manually, I don’t see any inconvenience.
Well then I guess Apple Silicon Macs might be on my list when I’ll need something to replace my Surface Go 1 if one day it dies or if Fedora becomes more resource hungry in the future.

Yeah but since they aren’t upgradeable anymore, you’re often kind of limited by the 8gb of RAM they often come with.
It’s also difficult to know how much life an SSD still has in it even if one day I could be tempted by a second hand M Mac and Fedora Asahi..
Oh I’m clearly not getting rid of my Surface Go for the next five years at least since it’s a perfect little computer to hook up to a screen and easily transport when needed.
I was just saying that now I’d be wiser and do more research about Linux compatibility before buying, even second hand 😇

Before converting my girlfriend’s MacBook Pro to Linux, I never thought it would be possible. I don’t know why but I thought they were some special inaccessible computers.
It’s just a shame the latest ones aren’t upgradeable. Apparently the last easily upgradeable one was the 2012 MacBook and the 2019 MacPro..not sure though..

I have a finely tuned Fedora 40 image that I cloned using Clonezilla (see: https://sh.itjust.works/post/25762756)
I wanted to deploy it on my old Acer Aspire 5737z but it won’t boot. It’s just displaying a — on a black screen for hours.
I’m not so knowledgeable but I guess it means I would have to reinstall the GRUB or whatever.
I’ve booted into my Fedora Live USB and tried the lsblk command people were talking about on the web (I don’t understand the terminal). Here's the result.
I think the SDA disk is the one I would like to boot from.
Can anyone help me understand what I have to do 😇🙏

A few days ago, I had a problem while trying to run KDE and Gnome as DE on Fedora 40. That problem was solved (see crosspost), but now, I can't update Fedora anymore as it says "the transaction did not complete" and I can't install or uninstall anything as it says I don't have space on my disk (which is not true).
Does anyone have an idea what to do?
Edit: apparently dnf clean and dnf clean all solved the problem, so thank you everyone as I was kind of panicking when I thought about all the work involved into having my perfect install again.

Today I tried to install KDE alongside Gnome to give it a try on Fedora on something else than a virtual machine.
For a reason I can't understand, the terminal couldn't finish the installation of KDE as something failed. Despite all of this, all the KDE apps were installed and Plasma is appearing as an option on the login screen under Gnome and Gnome Classic. Still I couldn't launch KDE plasma and nothing was happening after typing my login.
I took it as a sign that KDE isn't for me, especially because I'm 99% happy with Gnome.
So I removed KDE via the terminal and the remaining apps via the software center. Sadly, there is one app called "Centre de bienvenue" or "Welcome center" from KDE that I can't remove. Nothing is happening when I try removing it.
I tried removing it via the terminal, but when I type "dnf list installed" I can't find it as there are too many packages. Could anyone help me?
I also tried « dnf list installed » with the words « welcome », « bienvenue », « kde » and « plasma ».

I love Thunderbird and I'm really happy with it.
It's the flatpak version and, sadly, it doesn't allow me to open attachments. When I click on the file, it brings me to a screen where it proposes to use the system handler to open the file and then nothing happens.
Apparently, this is a common issue related to flatpak and its permissions, so I tried to circumvent it by trying to open documents inside Thunderbird (as I remember Thunderbird being able to open PDFs) but it didn't work as it's only telling me that Firefox is already running.
Does anyone know a workaround as for now it forces me to save documents before being able to open them?

I also have an old shitty computer from Acer with 4gb of RAM lying around.
I feel a bit guilty about not using it, but I’m already sharing my time between my Surface Go 1 (daily driver) and my girlfriend’s 2012 MacBook Pro, so I wouldn’t know what to do with it.
If anyone has an idea, I’m listening 👂
