Yes, it would be cataclysmic. In the longer term though, I would argue that just about everyone on the planet would be a winner if the US empire were finally put down. You can’t really overstate how much of an impediment the US is to global human welfare and development.

Oh man. I watched one of those last year for the first time in probably a decade, and it was some of the most dogshit television I have ever seen. Like even the hosts seemed bored. Wouldn’t be nearly as bad if they got people with even just the tiniest bit of wit or charisma to host. Whole thing felt like an AI fever dream that was also somehow a commercial. Went to bed feeling sick from it. Maybe I’ll watch again tonight to see if it’s even worse this year.

Peter Watkins has some good ones. Ken loach and costa-gavras too. Eisenstein if you really wanna party. Probably some good lesser known works by global south filmmakers but those are the big ones that come to mind for me.

Seoul is actually pretty close to the DMZ. Plenty of rich folks there. If shit really kicked off the city could be obliterated by artillery pretty quickly. Not sure why DPRK would need to do “Hamas style attacks” when they could just do that instead.
